Happy Pride, Everyone!



It's that month for those of us in the USA (and some other places, though I know that Pride is different in various countries). That means that it's time to remember who we are, and take a little stock in just who we are, and what that means to us.

There's been a great deal of danger for various members of the community this year, having ramped up more and more over the last few years. Gay rights are being targeted, trans people are in the crosshairs, and many more of the things that we've taken for granted from the 2010s onward are no longer so certain. Acceptance, always fragile, is at risk of fraying further and further.

But that doesn't mean we're done. It doesn't mean we're helpless.

We still have each other.

We still have our pride.

Wherever you are, if you have the safety to do it, if you have the heart, raise your flag. Even if it's a tiny one, whether it's in a wave of other people or just by yourself in your room, wave your flag. Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Pan, Ace, Aro, Trans, Nonbinary, Two-Spirit, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Agender, and everyone else that stands with us and is one of us, raise your flag and remind yourself of who you are. Whoever and whatever you are, that flag represents a piece of you, and that piece is not just valid, but worthy of praise and celebration. You. Are. Magnificent.

Celebrate it, and speak your pride. Softly, loudly, however you can, say it, and claim it.
