Well now that's over

Well it seems my last image made quite the impression!
I seriously hate using Vex as a personal representation of myself and usually isn't unless I kinda have to use him. Sooo don't take that last image http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3194011 too seriously... just some composition and color work I was having fun with, no biggie.
I seemed to have relaxed a lot more in the last few days now that the holidays are over. They just tend to remind me of all the types of people I just don't like. You see quite a bit of them in retail.
One of which in particular bugged me. Came in and took note of the game for Avatar. He kept pointing out. "That'll make a l,ot of money!" not to mention he kept pointing out how much GameStop the company would be making. I ... really don't understand this fascination with money, especially if you're not the one making it. It's not a measure of personal success to me, I mean "Twilight" made a whole lot of money, this by no intents and purposes makes it good.
I mean if one of the animators, modelers, lighters, writers, producers or even James Cameron himself came in and said, "MAN! Avatar is making a lot of money!" Well.. I get that! It's his movie, and he's making money off it. I'd be happy to at the success of a creation of mine. But moreso I'd be happy that a personal project of mine was completed and came out the way I wanted it rather than how much money it was pulling in.
As I've said before, "Money is a great means of convenience.. it is however not a convenient means of greatness." I don't think it's bad to make a lot of money. I think it's awesome and hell I'd love to pay off my school tuition and credit card bills and live comfortably, or even help my family and some of my friends achieve that.. But the money can't define me.
Anywho.. enough of that rant. My personal aim is to finish all my MFF leftover commissions before or at least by a little after the new year. Then I'll open up for new ones.
Let me ask you guys something.
How do comic pages and turnarounds sound for stuff to commission?
lemme hear your feedback!!
Thanks!

That is pretty much my opinion as well. :)
Comic pages and turnarounds sound great!
Anyway just take as much time as you needed on your projects and such so you don't burn yourself out.
:)
Most rich people have money, and would love to make more of it. So, they hand it off to other people that they think will, in turn, make them more money.
If the people (scientists, engineers, artists, etc.) suck at making a good product and/or making it marketable, it won't sell, they won't get the money back, and the rich guys that passed the money off to them won't be inclined to fund them anymore (and occasionally anything to do with that particular line of work).
If the funded developers do succeed, however, it likely will get them more money and possibly more advances in what they can do. So in a cruel, ironic twist, the 'snobs who just want to assist themselves' can often, in turn, be the very things that cause the advancements in technology/art/whatever.
A professor of mine pointed out in the industry of video games (and likely in similar fields), when you go up to the big guys with money, you typically want to do certain things:
-- Make a big folder of papers to detail eeeeveeeerything like thing you could possibly come up with (even if you don't use even half of it). After all, bigger MUST be better, right? Right? 8D
-- At the beginning, list off other products similar to your own that sell well, i.e. "Plays like Halo, looks like Call of Duty," whatever, even if the final work is completely different.
Both sides have to know how to play each other. Good developers learn the right things to do and say to work around dealing with bad producers, while good producers should know how to whip bad developers into doing better work.
tl;dr, big money funds workers, good workers make more money to get funded back to them. :V
As for the comics and what not that sounds like a pretty interesting idea. :)
Turnarounds are pretty much a more detailed reference page for a character, so it sounds reasonable as well.
besides, that guy you described would have irritated me, too. what was his point?
comics are good if you can easily whip them out. for myself, drawing a comic page is like pulling teeth, so any amount of comission fee would be laughable.
turnarounds sound good, people would like to have character references, and intricate patterns are best shown. also, you could show one character in different clothign styles. ^^
