As a musician, my first inspiration was Rick Wakeman. I was a teenaged keyboardist. Rick Wakeman was the keyboardist for Yes when they made "Roundabout." When I heard that for the first time, the seed was planted. I was, am, and will always be a rock n' roll keyboardist at heart.

As a songwriter, though? My hero is Brian Wilson. It took him 37 years to get out from under "Smiley Smile" to give us "Brian Wilson Presents Smile" -- and he absolutely finished the journey.

And that record is awesome. Heaven bless Brian Wilson.
