Hii uhm. How does one "take out or use shinies"

I was just given a shiny thank you AntArt for your support it means a lot to me. But how do shinies work are they like reddit gold and they're just badges?? Because I would hate for helpful hands to go to such a waste. That's a LOT.
hopefully any in limbo are sent to PayPal once that's linked, rather than just staying in limbo
