Not liking the removal of the gender drop-down menu
3 months ago
Personally, I don't like the removal of the gender drop down menu that FA implemented today. It unneccessarily complicates browsing for pictures, especially since many artists or uploaders don't use tags properly, but at least most people managed to fill in the gender drop down.
If the drop down used outdated terminology, the easiest and best solution for everyone would've been to simply update the terminology, i.e. add more option besides male, female and transgender, as well as just include "multiple genders" as an option for let's say m/f pictures.
I see this as a huge step back in providing a user friendly interface and it will most likely negatively affect my browsing habits on FA.

Luckily, they announced a roll back on that issue.
I never relied on that dropdown menu. When I searched for some keywords, I knew people would put everything and nothing in the tag.
Furaffinity should implement a board system, similar to E621, or propose a few keywords, as Sofurry does. And enforce a minimum of three tags.
(Otherwise, they could have created a system with check boxes to fill to say if it's a threesome, solo, or a couple, yada yada;...)
But it's me talking ideas when, in the end, Furaffinity is severely outdated when it comes to uploading stuff. *Not even talking about the BBcode*
But even though you don't use it, at least you're proposing an alternative. It's a shame that FA didn't even do that.
But the good thing is that they're gonna do a roll back on that issue.
They might roll back the change, but the issue with the dropdown will persist. Likewise, to the kinks and tagging. (Seriously, why nobody follows proper tagging conventions?)
Normally I'd kick myself for not reading the announcement that said they were going to do this change
But glad that they're taking back the change now
