Announcement for Commissions (Still not dead)
Hey folks,
first of all, I am working on them (and got a bit side tracked), which is why the game is lacking behind a tad (still also working on it though).
But today, I had an epiphany and will make a drastic change for the future. This means, that I will not take any more animation commissions again, ever. What I WILL do, is single images, image sequences (and perhaps comics), as well as YCH animations.
All commissions, I have in my queue, will be finished of course. Just I won't take any new ones. That's pretty much the gist of this post, if you want, I am providing some reasoning.
The thing is simple, animations are A LOT of work, for very little reward (comparatively), also they are extremely hard to price, due to their variability.
Pretty much, I need to use highly variable pricing and can't really give a ballpark mark, as it really depends on the story told. And I am talking of ranges between 30 to 129 bucks, for the same thing. Also, again, animations are very labor intensive. You don't just have the composition of the art piece, but also a story board/script, to tell the story and then all frames need to be drawn.Keyframes are basically redrawing the entire thing (or at least adding another character), while the in-betweens also need to be added and are also a lot of work.
Then there is also the job of making things look good. Smear frames and such, to make things look smooth, or tiny alterations.
All in all, it is also killing my mood. Yes, I can do these things in a reasonable amount of time, but it takes a butt load of energy, that makes me push it away (and thus queues building up).
I do enjoy the composition of art, making environments and such, which is why I keep going. And comms are a good alternative income, to Patreon. Also it is practice for game art and assets.
