Holiday in Review.

I didn't have one. Not really, no. I lost my big fancy business job on November 9, and working at a comic book store on Wednesdays (which by the way is the fucking coolest job ever). But sadly that doesn't pay the bills. Nor does washing your roommate's dad's RV. But after a very long month and a half of searching high and low, I found one job at an Indian restaurant called Kandas on December 23rd. They called me up 3 weeks after I submitted my application, and said, "Hey if you can be here in a half-hour, you've got the job.!"
Naturally I flapped my dragon wings as fast as I could to get my unemployed behind down there, and I've been working every day non-stop since. I worked Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas. And its a part time job!!! O..o How the hell!?
Well that's the rough part. I have split shifts. Which means I get to work around 11am, leave around 3pm, then have to go back to work again around 6pm and work until 10pm. So I spend eight hours of my day at work, and another... lessee... time there and back... carry the one... another 100 minutes so travelling to and fro. So And to make things better, since time is spaced in 4 hour blocks, I technically don't need to be awarded any sort of lunch break. I get to enjoy my food AFTER my shift ends. Tag on another 30 min, because I'm a very slow eater unfortunately.
Add in the fact that I'm doing this on my feet all day, because even though its a very slow restaurant, its very demanding. So I'm tired as shit during my nice two hour break that I get to sit down and not be working until 10pm.
So this Christmas, I spent almost exactly two hours with my Darker-Kain's family for Christmas, not even getting to enjoy his Mom's AMAZING tacos, but graciously getting the chance to open a couple of gifts that they so kindly bestowed ^.-.^
Now I didn't really care to celebrate this year just due to money and stress issues, but yesterday my sister decided to make a point of coming over to my house on my one day off this week (well it would be, but the Comic Shop decided to take a holiday as well, so I've got Wednesday off, too) to come over and drop off the gifts my parents wanted to get me.
For those of you who know anything about me, I'm fairly bitchy about the relations that I have with my parents, namely because of a "small" dispute 5 years ago that got me kicked to the curb in la moda-del-fabuloso. Thankfully my sister was the only one who came over, so its not nearly as stressful. Thank Goddess for giving my sister sensibility!
The downturn was that my ex-roommate and his on-again off-again girlfriend showed up later and spent the entire evening in my dining room arguing. THAT is how I spent my Holiday, in short, though I'm leaving out something very important.
See I actually enjoyed my holiday on Yule, December 21st, and enjoyed a warm Pagan ceremony among friends from the Church of the Earth, a community-based Pagan church not too far from my home that I've been attending for several years on and off. Had a wonderful time with the cakes and ale, and great food. :) It gave me good chance to reflect upon the bullshit that I've been dealing with in a less... well... shit-tinted light. See I realise that yeah my family might have been screwing me over for the last five years, but a percentage of it could have been avoided by my own arrogance and angered behaviour. Also I realise that were it not for the mess they put me through I probably would never have grown up as fast as I did. And I'm pretty thankful for that. Thankful... ugh. I didn't post the follow up to my last entry.
Em.. how was. Adoption fell through, birth mum didn't want to know me, but I know my birth name was Jason Bryan... and dunno the last name. Also Thanksgiving was spent in a drunken mess listening to my future-father-in-law brag on about his proud position in the Romanian Baptist Church.. Quite a pompous fellow, but you've got to admire his conviction to what he believes in, as well as his time-earned wisdom. Not much else aside from that.
Okay well that's all I have time for before work, so I'm off now, till next I scribe! Ciao!
