A Quick Look Back
Seeing Deonwolf's post I was reminded that it's the 10th anniversary of Doug Winger passing, which I did a journal about back then and felt was worth following up on. Crazy to think it's been that long already. As I said at the time, he was one of the early inspirations for me with what could be done with NSFW art. The combination of naughty and comedy is such a fun approach to take. And part of why I tend to go for some amusement in art. Similarly why I enjoy some of the antics in Deonwolf's art such as Deonpup interacting with characters. And Deon I've likewise known of for a long time. Same with Tani Da Real, who I've known of longer than most of my characters have even existed when I still mostly browsed SFW art.
It's also a reminder in some ways of how long I've been in the fandom now. My longest-running character, Rachel, will have been around for 18 years this August. Though in some ways her character had versions that predate even that. Kinda nuts how much things have changed in that time. I was still using Windows XP at the time in 2007. And for added context, the PS3 and Wii had only come out the year prior.
I haven't done my own art as much these days but at some point I'd like to get back into it more in addition to the commissions that I get. In the meantime I've been helping some others learn with their own art which is a satisfaction of its own. It's interesting being an inspiration to others. Never thought of myself that way but it's neat, heheh.
With this quick look back to the past, thanks for all the great and entertaining art you did, Doug. And for being such an inspiration even all these years later to so many others.
Also heck it's been ages since my last journal.

Doug's art was very defining for me and my journey first discovering and getting into the fandom. I also love having a comical aspect to the sexy, and (mostly) try to keep that included in my commissions. Major impact on me too
