Jesus... I used to know that guy and I chatted to him a few times at my earlier Confuzzled conventions. He did fall out of favor with a lot of people a while back but I never wished ill will towards him.
Several years ago, he posted a lengthy journal here titled "Accountability," and somewhere in the middle he vigorously defended me from all the attacks I've endured over the years. He didn't have to do it, but MY GOD he put a lot of trolls in their place with that journal and for that I'm forever grateful. I was at odds with his extreme political leanings, but I never had issues with him otherwise. He drew me a number of times, and I'll have to hold those pictures closer to my vest now that he has exited. Huge loss.
Duly noted. When he posted that atrocity last year, I blocked him for keeps. I don't care who it is, anyone who willingly does that and expects plaudits gets no quarter from me.
I've seen more and more stuff come out the last couple of days that's completely repulsed me, and shows he was much worse than I ever realised. Nothing but pure hate and bigotry the last few years of his life. There's a reason why literally every website (including this one) apart from Elon's Twitter banned him. Even InkBunny, which is very much an achievement. People shouldn't be airbrushing or whitewashing him he was just because they liked some of his art, he wasn't a good person, he's thrown a LOT of hate and hurt a LOT of people.
You only have to look at the reaction (or mostly lack of it) of the last couple of days to see how he alienated pretty much everyone in the furry community, from being was literally one of the most popular UK furry artists back when I first met him at Confuzzled 2010. Literally none of the many, many friends he had surrounding him at that con have stood by him or publically said a single word about his passing.
You only have to look at the reaction you usually get when a prominent furry dies, lots of outpouring and tributes. This time it's a mixture of silence, mockery, regret for what he turned into and a VERY small number of tributes- nearly all from the very small number of (mainly outcast) furries who shared his politics.
As I saw someone else say, he went from one of the most popular furries in the UK fandom to more or less dying alone through his own behaviour.
It is interesting just how many people I've spoken to didn't realise just how bad he'd got until he passed away and things started resurfacing and people looked at his twitter account. Some people who were braver than me to be able to read more than a handful of posts on his twitter account told me it was near wall to wall neo-nazi shit. Not to mention the various political drawings he's done and the infamous Livejournal post (which actually pre-dated him going nazi). Sadly I don't think any of this can be whitewashed no matter how people might want to remember him.
Actually, his InkBunny account was suspended for four months not because of his views, but he posted too many political rants and not enough regular art. And for the record, anything adult he did was commissions from clients. And many of his supposedly controversial comments match those of most people, even gay ones. The movie "Tootsie" worked because Dustin Hoffman was so convincing looking and acting like a woman. And he was doing it because he couldn't get an acting job as a man.
I’d say everything you said rings true, as one who use to buy art from before he literally turned into an unlikable cunt he was really not a good person. He literally chose to burn bridges with everyone who was either once his friend or customer just because he just really loved arguing with everyone who disagreed with him. I had noticed this change in his behavior happened around the time Trump won his first term in 2016, and shortly after he was sworn in he posted art of his fursona with a smug smile wearing a (Make America Great Again) shirt. knowing the kind of person he was it’s pretty clear he drew that because knew some people were going to get angry about that. He always had a nasty fetish for engaging in needless drama for his own gratification. While I never wished any harm on him I also don’t pity his passing. If he didn’t want to die alone, or be shunned by most of the fandom. he shouldn’t have been behaving like some nasty goblin. But I suppose there was no helping him after a while. I view what became of him as Karma.
I have this to say about Roarey. He was a saint compared to supposedly "good" people and had the courage to stand up to them. He was tactless but honest, and I applaud him for standing up to moral fakes. And plenty of people in the furry community say that too.
Roarey was a fascist. He was a piece of shit bigot who hated immigrants & trans people. And more. If you don't want people celebrating your death, don't be a shitty person.
It's honestly just shameful how the people running this website treated Roarey during his last few years here. I get that he could be controversial at times, but even still, nothing he posted ever really broke the rules. He didn't deserve to be banned and have his entire gallery deleted, and now that he's no longer alive, he doesn't even get the dignity of having an infinity symbol by his name here. If you look at his profile right now, it's just stuck with an exclamation point, a placeholder avatar, and an empty gallery. I know it's probably not going to happen, but I really hope the current administration could, at the very least, consider giving Roarey his infinity symbol.
That poor treatment extends to Wikifur. There was a big editing war on Roary’s Article that escalated to a point the article had to be locked down (set to read only mode). The hate is still vivid and TBH shameful.
It doesn't help when you throw the term "fascist" around left and right. It only makes you sound childish, like calling your mother a slavedriver when she tells you to clean your room. I suppose his crime was being argumentative rather than having extreme views.
If I remember he argued with people, but I certainly don't remember him going to other peoples' threads and harassing them. I trust you have proof to prove me wrong?
I should remind you people that this was meant as a Roarey Raccoon tribute thread. I know not everyone liked him and he was argumentative, but the comments from some posters here give me the impression that Roarey was a better person than they are.

Nevertheless, RIP.
