Due to the fact that I'm not an artist and my spending is super tight it is extremely difficult to scam me. Not impossible, just difficult.

I recently fell under target of a scammer impersonating another artist. I cannot stress how important it is to have a direct, verified chain of communication with the artist you can trust. Spaces like Telegram and other chat programs that allow name-changes and spoof accounts ain't it, not unless you have verified the interaction (they contacted me on telegram after I won a YCH).

Control passwords and phrases are great. Send one to the artist via that direct path before you continue anything with something that feels sketch (my scammer couldn't repeat the phrase and gave up when it was clear I was on to them).

Protect yourselves, trust but verify. Because the wider world knows Furries are willing to drop tons of money for their art and it's a viable scam market.

The scammers are absolutely nuts sometimes. x.x;
