Good riddance, I had a great number of years dealing with him and he always had excuses for delayed (in one case, years delayed) commissions. Always wanted 'just a little more time/money', finally cancelled that last commission and it took three YEARS to get a refund, all with him whining, complaining and excuses. "I just moved to the West Coast, I had a broken pipe and it ruined everything" style excuses. Meanwhile he's cranking of stuff to sell at conventions like Xerox. Maybe I'll dig up the images that did arrive and post them. He did excellent work but you needed a construction crane to get them out of him.

No real loss here. Now, when does Sibe croak?

Ahhh, damn. I'll miss his art.

Well, I'd be a hypocrite if I said I cared that much.

But losing another of the Old Guard is always sad..no matter who it is.

He was one of the greatest talents in furry art- But he chose to abuse the gift rather than use it honestly.

I have wished I had a fraction of his art ability.

Was he honestly that bad? There were times in the past when I got my back up with him, but considering that I actually was that bad, I figure that was probably a 'me thing'. Whichever the case, I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Seems like his last few years were a rough time, no matter who's to blame for it.

He lived off of others and always had excuses to not complete commissions or find honest work. He wanted to lay around, smoke dope, and live what he called a "bohemian lifestyle" meaning he would beg rather than take any responsibility for himself. He was a decent artist, but as a person he was, and remained, a schmuck.

I'll also never forget. Nor forgive, that it was Brian and Mike Hirtes that crowed all over the internet immediately when Shep got arrested and openly calling him a Pedophile everywhere.

He's more an Untermensch schmuch.

I'm at a loss for words. Such a talent, but also such a bad reputation.

He didn't have a good reputation among many Furrst Fandom folk.

I avoided him -- I'm not into erotica and was warned he tended to be a moocher. However, as others have said, it's sobering to see another of us gone.

The mooching lifestyle meant he didn't take care of himself (medically) --he was only 56-ish years old.

Lived a life decidedly not healthy ...physically, mentally, and financially.

Hope he gets a job in his next life.

"Something for nothing" simply doesn't work in the long run. But it seems ole Brian would rather die than admit that? It's a shame and a waste, it really is...

I well remember his art. Met him briefly a few times at the cons. Lost some money on a commission he never completed way back, never had any interactions with him after that.

I asked for help ONCE. and got nothing for it, so I stopped.
the fact the guy kept begging... yeah, no loss too the world, I hate too say it of a dead guy.

Yeah, admittedly it caught me off guard as well that he kicked over. All he did was bitch that Martin was kicking him out of the place since late November. His most recent was he must have a van or RV to move in with Al Fishbeck in St Louis and needed donations cause Steve was kicking him out.

And yes, all he did was surf couches across the country. Never contributed anything with his hosts til getting punted. Openly admitted he never paid rent at his last place over Two and a half years banking on squatters rights to protect him from being evicted.

Some kind hearted soul gave him $1800 In September and in less than 2 weeks he smoked, toked, drank, drugged up the money only to beg for more instead of moving to Slab City, his intended goal.

I will NOT be doing a memorial strip for him. Mainly since on December 3rd 2016, while I was at MFF, my older sister Candace died. I posted a journal explaining what had happened and my mind and mood was in the dumps over it, so please understand the situation. Brian posted a 10-12 column rant on my shouts saying and I'll never forget it " People die daily and you don't grieve for them, why should i care about your sister?"

He then spent the rest of the rants bitching how he's a respected artist and HE NEEDS MONEY and deserves it. Dragoneer even stepped in, deleted Brian's rant and punished him with a 2 day suspension over it.

If Brian had made ANY attempt to clean up his life and straighten out, things would be different, but nope, his chosen life style is what killed him. Cigarettes, weed and booze first and foremost.

So I will pull a Jeremy Clarkston , "OH no....Anyway..."

I'm torn. He was a talented artist, but constantly rattled the begging bowl.

My mom always said speak no ill of the dead, but... I'd had practically zero interaction with Brian. After a few months of watching him here on FA (and reading Oh, Poor Me regularly) I cut him loose and dropped my 'follow'. No regrets.

In the immortal words of a good friend who since passed on, "Don't befriend him. You'll be sorry."

Hmm..all of a sudden I want a cold coke.

Guy stole a lot of money, some from me too. So tears shed at all.

I did a big ask when my mum unexpectadly died. Folks stepped up and helped.

Among all the bad apple artists out there, he was the worst.

If you kept tabs on him regarding your commission, he'd wig out and say that you're pestering him and now he can't draw.

And if you backed off and didn't contact him, nothing would happen for months/years and if you contacted him for an update after such a long time, he'd then say he forgot and that it's your own fault for not reminding him.

I'm surprised he managed to keep that scam rolling on for so long.

I never had any business with him involving money, thankfully.
