That's certainly surprising, but that is a very large drop in activity indeed. Don't recall there being a mass exodus in any case.

FA is still the best place to look for art you want to see; Telegram isn't really a gallery, and Twitter/X/BSky really aren't galleries. I like having FA available and up to date ^..^

I had a mini argument about this, some people genuinely believe x or bsky are better because their minds are so dopamine-dependent they can't fathom have to wait a bit for likes to roll in (or god forbid spend 5 minutes on posting stuffs, especially with FABUI there for this)

I go thru FA every day but the way the Sub Notifs are arranged can make it really hard to keep up with others in my experience. Sometimes I am too 'lazy' to comb thru 400 messages yknow? I think if FA had a way where you could arrange the subs by artists, I might have a much easier time finding and supporting folks! ... Which, I know it sounds lazy but... soometimesss subs just become a little too much to wade thru @_@ esp when someone mass uploads I guess.

I haven't paid attention to the decline in activity but as I see it it's still a good platform

Honestly between the hack from last year, and the long period of the servers being down / read only mode a lot of people probably gave up on the site.

I visit FA often and also peruse/look at a lot of things. I just find it hard to comment anymore, I guess.

Tho' as a general thing, I've noticed that accounts that become primarily YCH accounts tend to lose viewers more steadily than ones that are far less YCH-centric.

And while I know you also offer non YCH coms, a large section of your gallery IS YCH stuff. On your first page, there's 82 instances of the term 'ych'. It doesn't bother ME, but it may turn others off.

Such is business, sadly.

Tbh I have a bunch of comms lately, there are very few likes on them. But I'm not sure that the problem is in ych, it seems that my gallery looks exactly the same as all the years before, a lot of YCS and rarely coms and fanart but if look earlier (maybe 2 years ago) the likes were on average 300-400 each I think?
I was very upset yesterday when saw the number on my last post with comm picture that I like so much but in 4 hours there were 90 likes, although before this it was always in the first hour or two
Maybe this does not look like something serious but it is really kinda sad, as if my pictures are no longer interesting, but for now I think the problem is the middle of summer and still the weekend and everyone is resting, I hope everything will be fine later! Thanks for your comment

Well the phrase "YCH" shows up on the first page of your main gallery 81 times. To be fair tho' I have + which lets me basically double the per-page submissions.

It would be a gradual thing, and yeah! Like I said, you DO have a lotta commissions that ain't it. The thing is its the PERCEPTION of being a ych gallery/artist. I didn't explain that very well.

Regardless I stick around cause I like yer stuff. Gonna continue to do so.

I actually counted it now, my first page contains 48 images of which 22 are ychs and it turns out that even less than half of them are, which is strange that you got as many as 81 :o

I'll be honest, while I'm still around, I do feel like I check FA a lot less than I used to nowadays, not even really to do with other social medias or other sites, just more of a general winddown if I'm honest.

I pop in twice a day minimum. Once in the morning and once in the evening.

Aside from commenting on your skill which is just "This looks great" everytime, there isn't really much to say, especially when you post the same pose 3 times.

Again, nothing wrong with that but that's the drawback. Its easier to comment on your own personal content and ideas than it is to comment on the same pose or commissions.

FA is still the area with the largest audience, and it's good to maintain a gallery site. Telegram only will basically just lock in those already there.

But it is the case that there's more competition for eyes in this space.

Still here, just not posting much so I look inactive. I'm not good with words so I like and run, I know that terrible. I do go through my favorites and look at everyone I have in there often because I like looking at pretty art. I don't know if FA counts the same person looking at the same art multiple times or maybe it only counts new people? Maybe that is why views are different? Something might have changed with the website.

I'm not sure how it is for the others, but I personally feel unmotivated to write comments if the creator doesn't respond to them. I understand that taking the size of your gallery into account, there must be hundreds of those and it might take a while to reply to each, but otherwise it feels like talking to the void. Even those people who used to comment in past might stop doing that and limit their activity to just faving the artworks to save mental energy, which is a scarce resource these days.

I understand what you mean but think I was misunderstood in this journal, I meant mainly views of posts! Comments are great but I understand that it is wrong to force the audience to comment or likes. I was mainly upset by the lack of views on my last (year-six months) submissions ^^'

I browse FA daily, mainly to review new posts I follow. Yes I understand comms are more direct and have a more accepted estimate of completion… yet with the graveyard of ych backlog I have to reach out and inquire on ends up daunting. Being invoiced up front and with a few ych from over two years ago haven’t had any progress, some ideas just get stale and lose interest

i'd atribute part of this to things like discord and telegram, people are now gathering on those places and thus not needing to talk or leave comments on gallery sites

I don't touch twitter or anything else besides FA for looking at art. I just don't have time for websites that arent for art galleries.
