I honestly don’t understand why artists do that…

I don't understand either. Almost every of them posted journals of having troubles irl or depression. I've had a dysthymia (long lasting soft depression and apathy) for ten years, and I still I do what I have to do. Now I strongly avoid artists if they post that they have problems, unless they're friends of mine. I'm sorry for them, but I'm a client, not a charity.

I checked their profiles - some of them still posting arts and ychs…it is unscrupulous and stupid to ignore you and not do their job.
All the time when I hear stories of rude and ignoring artists from my customers - somehow I feel shame for all artists who do that…breaking client’s is wrong, and asking for empathy after betraying is stupid.

Yeah. I drew my reference and some others for myself. I'm not an artist, so it took about 20 hours of my time, more or less. I don't really get it, how an artist, who can draw way, way faster and couldn't spare half an hour per day? For a month it's possible to draw almost anything.

Nothing annoys me more when you don't get a response,especially when they continue to work as normal. Worst I've had was something that looks nothing like one of my characters after no response and then ignored me afterwards (said person got their account banned but this was a few years ago and I only started commissioning so lesson learnt)

That is a very long list! I am wondering, and this is not an attack, just curiosity, do you check or ask for deadline? I am always wondering if the artists are crossing an establishment deadline or it is not established at all so they do it whenever they feel like it?

Also, I hope you paid through PayPal and can ask for a refund, especially if the artist doesn't respond.

I don't have paypal (Russian issues). Deadlines are written in commission info sometimes, sometimes were discussed. Anyway, I think any artist can finish an art in six months, spending couple of hours on weekends. It's not a masterpiece level with multiple characters and detailed backgrounds like this traditional (!) art or that art. It's quite simple solo or sometimes duo arts with abstract or not overly detailed bgs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I 100% agree, personally it takes me from 6h - 10h for one piece in total. So yeah... I always say even 6 months is too long, because artists do artworks in a few hours, but some take more then they can chew. And of course, when you have 60 commissions, you are overwhelmed and have a hard time getting them done. For me, even I get more comms then I can finish in a month, I close commissions. Btw. I also suffer from depression, OCD and lots of other stuff, yet I still draw, its my job, so no excuse on that part. I also saw some of these artists still post new YCHs, that is disrespectful tbh.

Wish you best with all this depression and stuff. I saw a psychiatrist and took antidepressants for a year. Helped a bit) Vitamins are also nice, as well as physical activity)
