This was something I was hoping not to come to pass, but it seems as though I may have no choice.

If you haven't heard already, then to put a long story short, I live in the UK, and the government here is in the process of passing a new law that requires sites to submit either a face scan or a government ID should the site host any NSFW content. The deadline for this new law is the 25th of July.

I am uncertain how this is going to affect FurAffinity, or any of the other sites that I post my art on (I am aware that Bluesky is rolling out its age verification checks on the 25th), and for obvious reasons I am uncomfortable with submitting my information for these processes unless I absolutely have to, as it comes across as an attempt at government surveillance.

What is all means is that unless I can find a sufficient workaround, it's very possible that after the 25th, I might not be able to access this account anymore should FurAffinity choose to geolock the UK and VPNs either don't work or become heavily outlawed. This assumes, of course, that the law doesn't get revoked, but given the current political climate of the world I'm not getting my hopes up.

I intend to fight this decision with all I have, and I will post whatever art I have left here before the deadline... but if this end up being my last act on this site, and every other... then I am sorry for how things have turned out, and it's been fun while it lasted.
