Don't just accept it, fight back.

These psychos that are responsible for this are only 1,000 strong. There's a popular idiom, "Furries run the internet." Its just true. Furries are involved in not just the internet, but ALL TECH. Disproportionately so compared to any other fandoms.

Write emails to VISA, Mastercard, paypal, or otherwise, as well as the sites that host us, itch, Patreon, hell, even FA. Above all be polite, but do not forget to be firm. It is not the processors place to dictate what content is, or is not acceptable, or they would also be responsible for moderating certain political content that can, and has, gotten people killed, which I will not be going into further. Their job is only to facilitate payment for things that are legal to pay for. That's it. They aren't our lifestyle moderators, nor are they are our parents.

But furries sure don't run the payment processor networks. Complaining to the processors themselves is a fool's errand. You are not their customer nor do they have any responsibility to serve you. In fact, to them you are cattle. The processors are enjoying a monopoly position and are protecting their gravy train by proactively cutting off content that might snag them at some point - but they are doing it in reference to the US law and ordinance, if ever obscure.

The change needs to come from the political arena and with enough authority where failure to comply will cost the payment processors obscene amount of money. Focus the activist attention on your political representatives if you are an American.

That will never happen, not with the political climate of either outright fascists on the right or do-nothings on the left. Right wing politicians in the US don't even have a way to be reached by their constituents more often than not.

We are the only change we are going to get. So get on the phone and start calling these bastards every day. We might be cattle to them, as you put it, but being on the phone takes up their valuable customer support service time, and creates data that they can't just ignore.

Except that it's clear the current counter campaign of calling emailing and otherwise contacting them is in fact working. People have already said that when they call it's immediatly assumed to be about steam/itch.io and that it gets escalated to supervisors that say they have been instructed to only give out an email adress and that they are waiting for a response from headquarters on how to proceed further. Just gotta keep up the pressure and make sure they know the vast majority of people are not pleased with this and they are in fact riskin their bottom line with their behaviour

I feel like eventually there'll be another version of Itch.io where it's allowed somehow like how BlueSky was made to leave Twitter from it's politics

that and also I heard we got over 160k signatures over 10k needed to turn over this new dumb rule, so things are looking up for now

alas is not just itch, but everywhere else as well, not just furry/porn/NSFW, anything cute/anime, even the most SFW, innocent, wholesome stuff is being targeted

places deciding blanket bans on some more niche kinks and fetishes should've been a red flag, yet many either did not see, or did not care, cause it was not something they enjoy getting the axe

now we're in a situation that can be summed up as "first they came for x group, but i did not speak up for i am not into this" that now will end up in "then they came fro what i like, and there was no one to speak up for me"

Its not the websites, it is the credit cards and debit cards. Visa and Mastercard don't want people to pay for it straight up.
