Its just not rewarding and these places make the effort not worth the squeeze for such little to no damn juice(engagement).
Many leaving was due to various "issues".
1) some didn't want to be on a site ran by a staff that was OK with having either a neo nazi or pedophile amongst them and then gaslighting the userbase about it.
2) this site really has not been keeping up with the times compared to other places. That goes with the now available tagging system which took all the way from like 2010 to get off the ground.
There's more I'm missing but the skinny of it is that the userbase and traffic actually grew! The problem is that we're now dealing with an entirely new audience that only seeks instant gratification with no strings attached.

I found if its their ultimate #1 picks. They'll damn sure engage or support. And don't bother trying to match up to em. You're wasting time because now you're asking them to put of their way to be bothered to add ANOTHER to that list.
Maybe I'm being harsh or sounding jaded. But I've no answer back to what's obviously in my face.
So it just saps the motivation to even care anymore to tag. Let alone even bother posting.
On that last note, not you specifically, you've a healthy balance, but for some artists I've noticed they want replies but never really take the times to respond to comments or improve their reach with things like tags (bare minimum obviously)
