I haven't really looked at e6AI myself yet but I can't say I'm suprised that this happened.
I've already been wondering when it will happen to my own chars. But I guess they aren't popular enough on regular e621 yet for that.

On the other hand... I have gotten art for one of my chars based on the post of another char that I like a lot.

Artists use other artists as references all the time. Dunno what the big stink is about when a computer starts doing it. Only issue I have is AI artists calling themselves "artists". Congrats, you clicked a button. Lots of skill there...

In this case it's like someone using a base to draw a character. Which would be fine. Except using someone's art as a base when it's not explicitly meant to be is considered rude at minimum. It's called tracing and is a form of plagiarism at worst. As always the issue boils down to permissions.

I mean look at this way, you can still draw your OC and use AI when your not in the mood to draw it, its still just a tool like a pencil or paper or art program, not a crutch.
Specily when Inpaint exsists as part of SDXL, Thusly the AI can be used to help you out with some of the more tricky parts when your stuck on a desine aspect like metals or shine or body oil.

People think to negativly about AI just like when computers first ccame out and people made artwork, people slandered the art computers at first and now its common with few being negative about it, so what if some people are useing it for evil, use it for good and enterainment :3

As long as it's people using AI and not the AI itself making the decisions.

The latter results in things like SkyNet and The Matrix, although if it went more along the lines of "Bicentennial Man" by some miracle, that would be awesome.
