AVATAR - Been there...
...done that.
Yep, I now can say "OMFG I SAW EET!" I never saw "Dancing with Wolves" an I hear people comparing those movies. If I had to point my finger I'd say it's
- a good portion of Albion
- some Mononoke Hime
- a bit of Nasicaä
- a tad of WoW
- a chunk of Secret of Mana
- and maybe a bit fern Gully
Pack it all in a blender, mix it good, pour et voilá: AVATAR.
And you know what? It really doesn't matter. It also doesn't matter that at some points you really know where it's going. there's moments where you are like "Oh yeah, I -so- know this will be happening", but seriously, you don't give a fuck because the images are really, really beautiful.
I got to see it in 3D. I heard that, supposedly, going to an IMAX for that is the best you can get, but I'm not driving 2 hours to the next IMAX if the local cineplex does 3D showings as well. Thus I stay with the very beautiful statement and don't call it epic since it seems I haven't seen EPIC yet.
Either way, very, very lovely movie and worth sitting through it the whole 161 minutes.

FA+

i dont know but i LOOOOVED the story. like a lot. i really noteced the lack of originality in it but hey!~ other movies have taken so much ideas that it's actually very very hard to get something original this days. so cant blame them :3 but i tink fusing all those ideas from other movies in one movie, that's kinda something original c:
saw the normal version, so 3D, HERE I COME!
Also, media recycles so much today. Not just movies, but music as well. There's so many cover versions of old songs, you can't count them anymore. Not all of them are good, not all of them are bad.
Nothing wrong with picking up ideas that have been used before. And nothing wrong with some finger pointing and "think green" messages either.
people said think green messages was bad? wow i tink that was stupid c.c;;;
but yes its true. nowdays you see so much songs that have something to be with eachother, and when it's something original, it's most likely a "damn this sucks" song. very rarely there is something new AND good..
But back to using old stuff... the idea of a "home tree" or "world tree" is an element known in mythology all over the world since hundreds of years, if not longer. And it's still there and used in games, books and movies., which just proves that it is, in fact, still one the good working "old" material. Same with various energy flows cycling. Not new, but still works.
And honestly? It's images and ideas i liked when I first saw them and they still manage to fascinate me. I think the first time I really got a liking for the whole tree thing was Secret of Mana, it was just one of the most wonderful images ever to me. Still is.
Asides all that... it's a MOVIE for god's sake. There may be things off, but as long as there's no loop holes the size of the sun in it, one should be able to just sit back and enjoy the ride without analzing everything into the smallest detail.
Da war dein Kommentar glatte Themaverfehlung (warst aber nicht alleine, von 20 Kommis haben nur drei den Eintrag auch wirklich gelesen).
Sorry, aber kannst du dir stecken das "hab ich doch gesagt"
*brumm*
Okay. Zugegeben. Die Themenverfehlung nehme ich an.
Here's an interesting note though: AVATAR is only the first of three movies, if I remember correctly. ^^
Was lots of fun.
In 3D kommt der noch so viel besser. Nie wieder ohne.
Die Vorschau zu Alice im Wunderland und Drachenzähmen für Anfänger in 3D war auch sehr vielversprechend.
but the CGI was relly cool and I think the animators did a great job, nuff said :)
