journal life + thoughts about art as a job + commis ideas!
Hi, it’s been a while since I posted and talked stuff in here. In short, I did a lot of moving (3 different places to be sure!). It was a pain, a lot of emotions, and meeting different landlords (mean ones!). But the other 2 places (our first one and the one we are living in right now) were and are really nice! We hope this new place will be our definitive one because the people in here are really nice and the place is beautiful, it has a north American style loft in it! Aside from that, I now have time to draw, but I feel like I want to do more for our living situation.
It feels like I love doing art, and this “job” I have has been amazing, but it feels like not so professional, although it functions just like a real job! I’m glad to do what I like for living and get the support to make it work! But the thing that bothers me is that I don’t feel it so mentally draining. It has its moments, but aside from the art stuff, sometimes it doesn’t feel like work and feels like I’m just drawing, and that’s it. The fact of not having a corporate feel makes me feel that I’m not serious or working at all. And seeing people online doing crazy stuff makes me feel anxious (I have to stop watching YT essays; it overstimulates me). But probably I’m being too perfectionist and comparing myself with people I shouldn’t be comparing myself with. Put in with the corporate stuff, I can’t help but feel like it’s so much work that people have to live, and I’m having the most relaxing “job” of all. I hope from now on this gets more productive, and this feeling doesn’t depress me!
In other NEWSSSS… I have some ideas on commissions. I want to sell people some of a “pencil style” drawing because I’m enjoying a lot how the results look using pencils (digitally). I thought that $30+ dollars for a colored piece, and $10 for anyone that is interested in just getting a sketch. These prices will be limited! So I’m thinking of opening them for a day or 2, or opening them for the night only.
Here are examples: example one this one is very straight foward, example two In two, I like the background technique and shading/rendering I did!! Amazing piece and OC (character belong to london) example tree Totally lineless, I love it!! (character belong to neverbelz)
And example four This one I downloaded paper textures! for a mixed media style, I would love to have a scanner for a more realistic feel, but this is what I have for the moment.
There were the examples and a little commentary about them. I think drawing more fursonas in these styles will be very interesting…
Well, that was all for this journal. For my future self, I want to do more traditional art, but I need the equipment for that, andddd I want to journal more! I have a lot of stuff I want to talk about.

and i feel you on the art vs job thing, i live with my folks and am disabled but they've been really supportive of me just hangin out and building my art career (after immediately bouncing off of computer science as a career choice). it's peaceful, but at the same time i tend to behave poorly without a proper schedule that school and jobs tend to keep people on! it'd be neat to have something "professional" i can do that isn't too intensive but just keeps my mind and body active enough. drawing for a living is neat but it consists of me sitting on my lazybutt most of the time lmao 🙃
i kinda feel more willing to learn now too. surely there are more helpful resources today in the post-work from home world!
i really like your digital pencil drawings and think commissions of them would be successful; if i catch any slots open on the day you open i can see myself snagging one!!
