The World is Crumpity

NOTE: If you are overwhelmed, please ignore this journal. Rest in a place of safety, and allow your mind to unclench. This is for those who seek to vent.
I try to keep things to the happy TF here, but honestly? Shit is fucked in America. Currently we have Texas actively declaring that they will rewrite the boundaries of districts to favor themselves on an off year, based on no data other than "we want to win, and we want you to lose". Having been reminded in the public sphere that the Cheeto is a pedophile, justice is just kinda... they're redacting his name from the files. You see? It wasn't there haha!
And like... at what point are we allowed to get rid of the predators in our management? The sociopaths who care not for humanity, only for their own numbers. At what point are we allowed to fight for our own future?
I feel rebellion coming, I hear it in the sound of silence. These clowns who have never learned history forget that laws are there to protect them too. That when the social contract is disbanded, there is nothing stopping the prey from defending themselves.
It's amusing to think of them as predators, because honestly they're more like guinea pigs. They're ravenous poopmonsters. They eat, and shit, and steal food from someone else because obviously it's good if another guinea pig wants it. They're so dumb. They can't think five feet in front of their face, and all that ever enters their brain is the desire to have more. To consume.
Guinea pigs are nature's little happy meal. They only survive in the wild when they are allowed to breed rampantly, like a cancer. They rail about being put in a cage, not realizing it is the only thing keeping them from being eaten.
Above all else... we can do better.
The American idea of "getting the best deal" has always felt awful to me. When you go to the store, do you buy single-ply toilet paper? Of course you don't. It's awful. It doesn't even do what it says it will. Life is too short for single-ply toilet paper.
We can, and should, do better.
We should make a society that we are proud of. That may cost us more in the short term, but stands the test of time. We should make a society that we don't even know who will live in it, 100, 200 years from now. But that it will still be there, supporting them. Caring for them. Ensuring that this shit doesn't happen again.
Feel free to speak your thoughts and feelings. Your voice matters. You matter. Do not let them make you into a number.
Above all else, I want to be here for you. To be at least some light in the darkness. For when my thoughts turn to darkness, I find light in you all, and that means so much more than you can imagine. Maybe it's just a silly artwork you did, a little thing you wrote, but you matter. You make a difference.
Be the lighthouse.

I haven’t found what I’m looking for. What is it, though? Today, it’s a world where the last are first, where the weak are strong, where kindness and compassion are worth more than selfishness and greed.
I want a house with a crowded table. I want a place we can go where everyone will lay down their weapons. I want to break free. I believe in kingdom come when all the colors will bleed into one…
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.
Somewhere along the way, extortion became a game. Who could do it best, who could get the most out of people? Flipping houses was seen as attractive, as free money that people found under the cushions.
But that rent comes from people. To exact prices and levy fees is to exact blood from those around you. It should not be a way of life. It should be a necessary evil at best, a thing that we do to abstract the comings and goings of effort in the workforce.
In an ideal society, a landlord should create an affordable living space that they are proud of, to show off to the world. This is the place, this is where you want to live. Not built at the lowest bid, not raised to the highest rates, but offered as a creation that people can use and grow from. Money should be extracted for cost, not because you can. Things should be made to last, not just to fill a box on a money-making flowchart.
Most of all, those in power should actually mean to run the places they run. The current leadership? They don't want to rule. They want to party on top. They want to destroy everything they don't like. They don't build, they don't make anything. They're just guinea pigs.
Guinea pigs should not be running the world.
A government that is more busy trying to play games and shove the shells around is not one that cares about its people.
Like as sad as it is to say, what I want most from a president right now is to be a parent. To be that parent in the room putting down very commonsense things like "You don't get to gerrymander districts" and "votes are paper counted, not open to machine hacks" and "we should be building quality functions of government rather than tearing down everything". Give the taxpayer quality for their money. Invest in the country's future.
It's only hard because there are horrible people in the way demanding that we can't even implement the obvious fixes. Yes, some problems are hard and will take a lot of work. But we should be capable of fixing the easy stuff. We should be capable of putting out the fire around us.
The current president's idea is "if I don't like what I hear, I want it gone". The jobs numbers aren't good? He fired the guy who reported the information. As if that would magically make the situation on the ground different. Someone going "lalalala I can't hear you" about the world should NEVER be in power.
(There are like 50 examples of him doing this exact sort of behavior but it's depressing to list them all out. He wants satellites gathering weather data on climate change destroyed. Like not repurposed, no care for the investment made, he wants them destroyed and blown from orbit. That's fucked up.)
Live, in spite of them. It sucks being on the conveyor belt sometimes, but the friends you make along the way are lovely.
*runs around turning people into animals, to see if that helps*
