Trump signs an executive order to address Debanking
3 months ago
So Trump just signed an executive order on Debanking which absically targets banks who debank people for poltical, relgious or other reasons.
Debanking is basically what's been happening to Steam and Itch.io or at least the threat of it;

from what I COULD research this could also impact payment processors like VISA and MC since they're part of the financial system

More info that sets this up

Plus the whole stability and brand protection thing is ridiculous sense they've already damaged it by being moral busy body hypocrits
We'll have to see where this goes perhaps.
Also added a news video for context
"Make a PIX" is neo on the vocabulary of the average brazilian and since this affects flags which in majority are from US and Trump on a tariff spree
From the comments I saw in the campaign against the card companies over censorship this is bipartisan issue, both people on the left AND right are losing the right to creative expression.
I'm startin' think given this seems to be an effort from multiple gov'ts across the world, I suspect the woke vs not-woke people was a big fuckin distraction, starting to suspect we all got fuckin' played.
And I am glad I ain’t part of this and I can point and criticize as well as helping created this party https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partido_Missão which is the last hope for Brasil to fix itself.
I use Visa with my US Bank, I'm not religious and aren't registered to vote. Fuck! How's this gonna affect me....? 😰
Still, I'm just dreading for the upcoming censorship changes; making me wish I'd travel back in time between 2011 and 2012 when I first joined social media. 😔
And to that I say, good.
What I feel IS strange is I haven't seen too many other politicians from the dems or the repubs speaking out against the censorship, save for the House Judiciary people.
Unlike other countries though we in the US have several checks and balances. believe it or not the KOSA bill from last year didn't make it past the house, even though the senate did pass it.
And then there's the case of the President choosing not to sign it or not, this is pretty much why we're not an outright surveillance state like other countries.
I'm admittedly not familiar with the UK's politics but it seems like the PM comes off as a king that just gets chose democratically, but again this is due to my unfamiliarity I do welcome someone to explain to me hoe Parliament works.
I too understand that the US won't go out of it's way to make this a reality, but I honestly feel they slowly putting the paving stone in place under the POTUS' order. This is merely the first steps they are making, But I have faith that the people won't stand for this, and waiting for more then protect, but serious outcry.
I do agree on the child safety tidbit it's safe to say that anytime a politician brings that up, default it to they just wanna take people's privacy away."make that "for the kids" argument infamous.
On the rest of the things like ID verification, I agree it IS a joke and is indeed a threat to privacy, And I agree censorship is indeed shitty, I don't care what side people lean, you're either pro, or anti-censorship that's all that matters to me.
And agreed, all for anti-censorhip...sorry if this all felt like I'm ranting...just worked up when people act like they don't know, except they do.
Plus as mentioned the anti-debanking executive order trump signed (as far as I know) does cover something similar to what they did to steam in a way. This EO apprantly also punishes banks that already HAVE done what they've done.

I wonder why most of the other people in congress are silent, haven't heard much from the dems weirdly enough...or the other GOP members for that matter...
Knowing them they're probably not sure how they can spin the story against him to suit their purposes. But they're bound to say something, they usually do.
At the end of the day censorship is shit.
