Well, it happened to me. I was curious to see if Second Life was still a thing after 20 or so years, and indeed it is. So I signed up and I got hooked immediately. I now have over a dozen avatars. Any other Second Life addicts out there? I will try to do my other art projects so it won't take too much of my time. I used to be good at time management skills.

Update: after being on here for 3 months, I find myself puzzled that so many users are so possessive and overprotective of virtual property that can't be stolen. Unfortunately, I think it degrades friendships outside SL and into other platforms such as this one.
