My last thoughts about situation
You know what else I can't understand about this whole situation? I can't understand how a person can do such things in their own community. This is not some random guy from the side thinking "lol I'll sell slop shit to these stupid furries". No, this is a person who IS in the community. They go to conventions. They take pictures and laugh with other people. They make friends and give them gifts (the same slop in the form of tracing and AI). And at the same time, they are absolutely okay with the fact that they lie to all these people and do not see anything wrong with it.
I'm not a furry myself, but I had and have many friends and customers from this community. And they have always been very supportive, kind, polite and tactful people. They are one of the few remaining (!) groups that still support artists and don't chase AI shit. And having all this, this colossal support, community, artists from the community next to you⦠you choose to deceive them. And continue to blatantly lie even when you are caught red-handed.
Imagine, you meet someone at con, they give you a portrait of your character and you're like "wow, thank you!!" and then you find out that it's a lazy tracing of someone else's art or even better - a picture using the technology that left you and thousands of your colleagues without work and income π
Sorry for this wall of text, there's just too many things that make me angry or desperate in the last few years. And I can't even talk about it, only post pictures and keep quiet most of the time. Art is one of the few things I have left, but even that gets ripped off over and over again. And all these people don't even have the shreds of shame or conscience to apologize. Or even realize in their heads that they're not the good guys in this story.
Ugh. Thanks to everyone for your support. It means a lot.
And thanks to everyone who recommended The Ranch of Rivershine to me, at least I can go pet some cute horses in the evening after work. (ββΈβ)

Did you check to see if they've been permabanned?
Being good enough for a following is a double-edged sword; people might do shit like this, but on the same time, your followers will eventually notice a copycat because you and your work are known.
It isn't right, it isn't much of a consolation - but dude played stupid games and won stupid prizes.
I hope his cancellation deters at least some people who would attempt the same.
Hope you continue to believe in yourself and your work, and create what brings you joy. β₯
If posting it hurts more than it gives, have that conversation with yourself and do what's right for you.
Love your work and it's always a joy to see on my feeds. β₯
All the best!
I'm so sorry you had to go through that, I love your art!!
I remember back in high-school my best friend showed me some art of her sona enthusiastically, and the art blew me away. I was so baffled that she was this good at art and hadn't shared it with the friend group. Then that night, by crazy coincidence, I happened to see the original piece she had traced from. The next day she showed me a different piece with a wildly different style, and much less anatomical accuracy, that I assume was closer to her own talent at the time. These pieces were for her boyfriend, and she was incredibly excited to share them. I think the praise and immediate creation of something good outweighed the stealing for her. It also didn't seem "harmful" because the original artists would probably never see, and the giftees would never know.
It did make me sad to find out, but I never confronted her since it was pretty innocent.
Given how interwoven art and crafting is to the core of the furry fandom, you'd think this kinda practice from adults would get shut down faster.
Your anger with this is totally justified, and I feel like I share it with you. Art is kind of all I have as well, and it feels like it's been one thing after another these past few years to break it all down. At least you've got the word out about one serial tracer.
I made a fursona as a joke, then got a fursuit... then went to cons and sold...
Welp =| I became a godamned furry lmao. We're pretty good people, amd art is the lifeblood of the community. I hope that tracer gets pushed into obscurity and shame.
