Woo, it's almost time for Trails in the Sky (First Chapter)'s remake/remaster release! I admit I never thought I'd get into the series but played Trails to Zero on the Switch as my first one and fell in love with the setting (even if they use the harem bits a lil' to much on the Cold Steel side).
There's a demo out so I'd suggest giving it a try! And then you can enjoy... let's see...
Trails in the Sky Arc:
Trails in the Sky Second Chapter
Trails in the Sky 3rd (Kinda weaker but kinda 'ties' up some of the stuff in the first two. Supposedly. Never played any of the Sky ones)
Crossbell Arc:
Trails to Zero
Trails to Azure
Erebonian Empire Arc
Trails to Cold Steel I through IV
Trails to Reverie (Which is kindof a tie up for the Crossbell Arc but also features a lot of ones from the Cold Steel)
Trails to Dawn 1 and 2
And then Trails to Horizon!
13 games of pure RPG story that are accompanied by an amazing soundtrack. <:

The Sky first chapter remake is looking great though, with the updated visuals and combat, can't wait to play it at some point
I'm looking forward to Horizon next year. It's going to be another huge climax of multiple storylines much like Reverie was, and that's got me excited for it. I hope you get to play the first three eventually. ^ ^
I know most of the story beats from references made in both the Crossbell Arc and Erebonian Arc.
We really need those three games remade with far translation work done, though I don't see it happening. It's not in Falcom's plans.
But yeah, I just remember the victory screen on that game giving me a headache with how badly translated it was.
Though now my fiance is tryin' to rush through CS IV so he can play Reverie... and then Dawn 1 and 2 before going to FC.
He has time until Horizon comes out. He definitely needs to see all of Reverie before moving on to Daybreak 1 and 2. : )
There, cranky old rpg man rant over. :p
As for Ys, honestly I enjoy the party system but also enjoy the battle-system from Origins, 3 (remake), and 6 (Ark of...whatever). They were the nice mix of progression and action.
Though you may be lucky on the party front. Supposedly they are cutting down on party members because people would only stick to a specific number. Ys X only has Adol and Viking Gal as the only two playable characters.
Alas Ys I/II was to long before my time that I cannot get into them. Though I do have the original Dawn of Ys (IV) soundtrack which is a banger of an OST.
(and also fun to find the very obscure references to past Legend of Heroes titles before they officially spun away from being subseries! ^^)
