Regarding what happened in Minneapolis
I was disgusted. Saddened. Angered. But not surprised. Why not? Something like this happens way too often in this country, and it is a fact that anti-Catholic bigotry is alive and well in 2025. In fact, it's one of the few prejudices that's still somewhat socially acceptable. (cough cough Kamala Harris cough cough cough.) And I'm sorry in advance if it makes me sound bigoted, but some of the most disgusting anti-Catholic racists out there are some subset of LGBTQ. Don't believe me? Type in the term 'nun' in the search bar on here with the filters off.
What also does not surprise me is the reaction of some political leaders. Jacob Frey, the mayor, said something to the effect of 'don't bother with thoughts and prayers. Those kids were literally praying!' It was not the most tactful thing to say, but to be fair, he hardly asked for this thing to befall his community. Maybe it was his way of expressing solidarity. But the way he said it reeks of a cheap political talking point, not compassion. Especially after kissing George Floyd's casket. To Mr. Frey, Gavin Newsom, and any other politicians who suggested 'this is about gun control' or 'this is about mental health'- please just stop. It's actually very disrespectful and kinda mean-spirited to us as Catholics in a time of deep mourning.
We need to stop pretending this is normal. This time, children died because of trans ideology. Sorry, but that is a fact. The fact that that several trans activists on TikTok and other places actively celebrated the shooting doesn't help. https://youtu.be/kCcqp3SGu4w
I'm sorry. I'm done. Talk to you all soon.
