7 Years & 300 Submissions later - what next?
tl:dr - Gavin will be getting some small updates to his design, art posting (not commissioning) will be on hold till October to reset a bit, and look forward to some big pieces coming out in the future.

When I finally got my butt out of the closet my goal with creating Gavin was to be more open with myself and have a fitness goal. I didn't ever think I would delve so deeply into the hobby of making characters and commissioning art that I have 300 posts worth of content even if a chunk are alternates. This has been quite the run and outside unplanned events I think it's a hobby that will keep going. That being said, together with my 40th birthday coming up it has been quite the time for retrospection.
I think over that time I have done plenty to be more open with myself and others. Breaking out of how I was 'supposed' to be in some messed up view of myself growing up. Avoiding anything out of the usual for fear of that being dragged out and mocked. While still a part of that is there in the way I keep private to general public, sfw art prints and other aspects now fill my home that was bare to avoid being outed. The recent visit to AC fur con further shown that in such a welcoming environment I was easily being myself under the name Gavin and not myself trying to be Gavin the character. So I count this quite the success and not so much a goal I need to focus on. 7 years to do so is not small but breaking years of habits around identity is never easy.
Unfortunately life isn't so easy to say everything was accomplished. Events with family, covid, and many other factors battled other improvements though some progress was made. This just means that I am still not where I want to be but there is time to focus on that now. With a renewed effort to be healthy there will be some updates to Gavin's design in the future working on minor details and build.
As part of that, I am putting posting art on hold for the month and kind of put things together come October. You might still see plenty from artists as I have plenty queued and more being queued, but from myself there will be a gap while I reset and get myself into some good habits and schedule. But for that, I do have a few big project pieces in the works. I don't want to leak everything but things like an animation among others that should be worth the wait. I'll see about timing for leaking details as it gets closer.
Not quite part of that (yet) is finishing the choose your own adventure story I hope to wrap up this year. And welcome as any to message about art collab ideas on telegram or discord.
Thank you all for coming with me on this journey so far and looking forward to what comes ahead!

Looking forward to the future. Sometimes a reset is just what the doctor ordered. I am happy to hear you are becoming more comfortable with yourself, though, and happy 40th! Not sure if I will be here when it happens. My 34th is around the corner as well. we old people gotta stick together. XD

Yeah just have to drill down to the necessities and build back up sometimes. It's hard to find balance between what I want to do and what I have time for without overloading myself.

Of course! Change can be hard but worth doing to continue improving. And we'll see just how many get flustered over Gavin 3.0 :>
