Art Direction Update
Update on the direction of art projects - it’s looking like I may need to pivot in a different direction due to Shia getting a hyperthyroid diagnosis.
Art side of the update: For those who don’t follow my Patreon page, I had been using recent commission free months to focus on starting projects that I’ve been wanting to do for years. It’s left me a bit quiet online. Unfortunately the treatment looks like it’s going to be costly, regardless of direction, which means I can’t be making zero dollars at art while these bills hit.
On the plus side, it might mean that I open up for commissions again. I’ve been itching to do more pet portraits (like the two kitties I’ve done in recent years, where the pet is surrounded by symbols of their favorite human, I just love that connection). The fall sale is coming up, but that’s been a dud for a while now, to the point where I’m not sure I want to spend a lot of time advertising it. The Sun’s Path still needs to be listed online. I wanted to list it along side The Moon (when it’s finished), but since those projects might need to be put on hold, I may need to just list The Sun sooner.
Will keep you all updated on what I decide, and please let me know what you’d be interested in, the feedback would be useful!
Shia side of the update: Her thyroid levels have been creeping up over the past year or two, so this isn’t entirely shocking. Still, I’m bummed about it. The treatment options do look fairly hopeful, they all have pros & cons. The treatment that I would ideally like her to get is unfortunately costly. The worst part though, is that the facility is quite a drive (especially for a cat that can barely handle a 10 min trip), and she’ll need to be boarded/quarantined for a couple weeks. I’m stressed thinking about HER stress. Right now still weighing the options, during this time I’m going to focus on her and try to squeeze in the last bits of time working on the new projects before possibly pivoting into something different.
Please give your kitties an extra cuddle for Shia!

Trying to set aside time for personal art is a bit rough, I hope you can find a good balance going forward.
Aye, she does gaba for vet trips, and it does somewhat help. Her vet is going to help me with the proper dose of gaba for the trip there. And I’m going to call her previous owner to try and get the secrets of how they used to travel across states with Shia. Seriously, what the heck kind of magic is that?!
