Additional Writing Support Arrives to Fur Affinity

Lovely!
For those unaware, any writer that wishes to publish one of their works to more than one gallery web site usually has to do more than what it takes to publish an illustration. You can just upload the same file type to every gallery, but that usually means a worse experience for users. Written works are only embedded into the gallery site if you upload a specific file type, convert to the site's own format (e.g. bbcode), and so on. This means that every time a writer wants to upload something, they have to take additional time to manually convert their work into a different format to publish an optimal copy of their work.
As you can imagine, that's quite the burden! If you're an artist, imagine if you had to spend 5-10 minutes with every art piece you draw, tweaking it for every individual gallery site you post to. What a pain!
Well, I'm happy to say that in Fur Affinity's September 5th 2025 update, more embedded support has arrived for written works! Importantly: PDF files are now displayed directly in browser. As the PDF file format was built for the purpose of sharing a known formatted document all over, this is excellent.
What does this mean for authors? It means you can do things like:
- Preserve all font styles and formatting (bold, italics, size changes, et al)
- Include illustrations (like any book with accompanying pictures may have)
- Provide links to jump around between points of a work (this comes in handy for choose-your-own-adventure, multiple-endings stories)
- Anything else PDF / document formats let you do
Most importantly: The more gallery sites that do this, the better. It means that a writer can just export 1 copy, and upload it everywhere, instead of having to tailor copies for every site.
Great work, Fur Affinity!
