Would You Be Interested In Commissioning Me?
I’m doing fine financially but I’m between jobs and want to have some extra cash so for the first time(outside of a couple weird little things) I am considering doing commissions. Would you pay me to draw something? How much would you pay? Do you think I’m up for the challenge in terms of skill or personal style? Etc? Any info much appreciated.
make sure to make prices with an hourly rate in mind instead of whatever u think people will pay u. Whatever min. wage is in ur area i generally increase it by a dollar or two unless u live in an area w very low min. wage.
min. wage here is increasing to 15$ an hour next year, so I charge about that now and will keep that line there bc I'm happy w it, as I don't plan to rely on art as a regular income during uni (unless I become an oddly popular furry artist, suddenly.)
i forgot what else I was gonna say cuz I got distracted and started working on a design for myself... If i remember ill come back to this
the best way to find out is just to open up for a few slots at a reasonable price and give it a go. 'reasonable' being somewhere between what artists doing similar work to you charge, and what kind of hourly rate you'd be happy accepting. (i agree with speedcore that you should not be asking less than a living wage! even if you're not doing that much of it. imo making art is a skilled trade and is worth more than that, but that's what the market is like.)
good luck!
