It turns out whatever the heck Fur Affinity is using to process .gifs into profile banners doesn't work. At all.

It also turns out that, yes, they are .jpg only allowed.

RIP us pixel artists I guess.

Ahhh I tried once too, why animated banners aren't a thing, I'll never know

I was trying to force the output to not be a JPEG hahaha. It's kind of impossible to have a pixel art banner if it's just gonna become the hotdog meme. :D

JPEG works on 8x8 blocks. If you work at a scale that you could blow it up to 8x, it'd never get banding ::D

The issue is that the banners have a 300px vertical cap. So I'd have to have a vertical resolution of 37px. That isn't happening hahaha.
