My Hysterectomy
[Full surgery title being a 'Robotic assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy cystoscopy with excision of endometriosis']
on the 5th went ok!
I had to be kept in the hospital a few nights to make sure I was okay after some post-surgery irregular bleeding and clots but I'm doing okay now.
My pains still pretty high & I'm still in rough shape but I'm gonna be okay with some time.
I've wanted this surgery for 2 years now, so I'm just happy its over.
I should be capable of losing weight now & not having a unhealthy amount of estrogen in my body causing my blood vessels to be unable to close/pump blood too.
A lot of my health should start sorting itself out over the next few months.
Free am I from having 2-3 shark weeks a month!!
Now its just getting used to the hormone changes and recovering from the absolute slew of stitches in my body
And its a lot of them, 7+ different stitches spots!
I could talk about all the gross curiosities of the healing process so far
but there's not a spoilers option that i know of on here XD;

But yay, healthier Kira~ :3
tldr;
- Hysterectomy to remove my uterus
- bilateral salpingectomy to remove the fallopian tubes
- cystoscopy is checking the bladder to make sure nothings wrong with it / no cancer/stones/etc
- Endometriosis is the lining of a uterus growing on other parts of the body, so if i had a shark week that spot on my intestine lining *also* shed and bled internally contributing to more pain
Glad to hear most things went a-okay o:
Hope it continues to go in the direction yah need it to, too
there's always a chance that such a change will throw me into it but i gotta stay hopeful that it doesn't haha
I've added some tips to people in the other comments but if you have any specific questions i'd be happy to answer best i can
Do any exercising you can before it to be more prepared for the effort to move around with a belly full of stitches
& be sure to get a bed wedge pillow as laying perfectly flat is a new kind of hell during the healing process.
Make sure you have someone around to help as well, even just getting my legs up into the bed is *work*, Arguably the hardest thing to do after the fact.
And while rest is important always remember that moving around when you feel capable, even just a few feet can help your body a lot in shaking out any blood clots that might be trying to hang out in there.
oh! And Ice packs, Make sure you have plenty of Ice packs, you'll want them [No heat for the first couple weeks]
They should check and make sure you can use the bathroom before they send you home which is where they found out i was bleeding like crazy and had to keep me overnight. I ended up passing a fist-sized blot clot and they said 'that can happen but just make sure if you have any more larger than a quarter you tell someone' so i pass that knowledge to you [thankfully there were no further complications after that at least]
I wish you the best in recovering!!
And Oh! i didn't realize there were spoilers!
Seeing as I'm only a few days off the surgery table I may not have too many tips just yet but I'm always open to talking about the experiences best I can.
The biggest thing i've noted so far is that you cannot use your core muscles at all out the gate, you'll be dependent on your arms and legs since even just bending can feel like you are being murdered
[But pulling yourself up into a sitting position with your arms can also pull on the stitches! Its rough!] So I highly suggest doing some exercises to strengthen your body before you get pummeled. Would have saved me a lot of struggle
You will absolutely want a bed wedge pillow or something that makes your bed not entirely flat, that slight bit of curve helps significantly with the pain & not pulling on the stitches, I have to sleep in the recliner for the next few days because i did not get one of those. [The nurses also suggested it as its easier to get in and out of while you can't just sit up, you may need aid in putting the footrest back down in the mornings like i did haha.]
if you have any specific questions i'm happy to answer but these are the couple things i've noticed right out the bat to warn people about
Hope your recovery goes well ^ω^
[i had knee reconstruction in 2022 & tubal litigation in 2020 ] So it was a strange experience but I'm very thankful they decided to keep me there for the 4 days because i was not able to do much for myself for what felt like forever.
I'm so happy to be home but i'm still feeling the 'maybe i shoulda stayed last night too but oh well i gotta start being on my own at some point!'
Glad to hear you finally got the surgery and I wish you an uneventful recovery!
You can now show off your battle scars with all the bears and wolves you totally had to face whilst getting through the hospital lounge~ :33
Still though, happy that it went well and crossing all of my fingers and tendrils that the recovery and future goes well and bright ^w^
Heal up quick! I send lotsa love!
Wishing you the best for the healing and recovery~
