So... It seems that FA is now hard administrating tags...???

I got a very bizarre admin notice about some tags on some very old image from who knows when.

I have a habit of rambling in tags of images sometimes and sometimes just writing sentences in there.

Never been an issue... and now suddenly I got an admin notice that... there was some issue with an image, because there was like... a joke in the tags?

IT ALSO SAID that they can retroactively start hitting other older images from BEFORE this admin...mindset change can also be struck with this kinda notices???'

So basically, am I supposed to comb through over 1200 submissions just because now suddenly this is some serious issue??? It said the tags were misleading...but I dont think they were really leading anywhere...

This seems like a very out of the blue and strange thing to start getting so strict about... And if some specific tags are an issue, why don't they just automatically delete them? I've been here for 15 years... and now suddenly there is an issue with something that has never been an issue before.

It honestly feels a bit like a dick move.

yeah I have a ton of tags for Toys-4-U that don't work anymore because it needs to be Toys4U or Toys_4_U. And there are a lot of those, but to go back and go "You can't do what you did 5 years ago!" is assinine and a waste of time if its not hurting anybody.

with the ones in question, it would even easier to just write a, like 3 line SQL script and run it over the database. Problem fixed.

In that kind of case, the staff should do the fix by themself because it's a lot easier and faster than asking the user to do it because the staff has access to the database.

As others have said, there's no need the change anything before the policy change. Fiix the one reported, which was likely some dickwad being an asshole, and any since the change, which was... I dunno, within the last few months I believe. Honestly, the new rules around tagging are only for the improvement of the site overall.

Ya sure? Ive been going over a ton of old cringe and tagging it ass big_boobs female thighs. xD The issue they seemed to have was with a years old thing. You're saying someone just reported it???

In the note I got they warned that you SHOULD go over all old images to make sure they comply with the new standards set.

Yes. The "You should go over old stuff" is so they don't get reported too. If you check Jollyjack's journal about it, since that was also mentioned here, you can see someone stating the exact policy and all for it.

I feel like either the admin should edit it or they should have a script for the site to remove or fix old tags like they did with the genders being changed to tags since some artists have been around since the beginning and have hundreds of pages of pictures in their galleries. Asking someone that may make their living drawing art to go back through quite possibly thousands of pictures and look through the tags for every picture and spend possibly hundreds of hours on that instead of doing their job that pays their bills is insane.

That's exactly why they're... not? They're only asking for enforcement for recent posts, and posts going forwards. Anything before that, is on the artist to tag, or fix tags, unless they get reported for some reason or another. The suggestion to go through and fix everything, is simply that: A suggestion.

It happened several months ago, along with filtering and a few other changes.

I don't know of any artists who see it as cause to go back change the old tags unless something egregious broke.

yeah, the suggestion is more for, like, if one of your old jokes broke and is now tagging your art in an inappropriate way, and most of your old tags from memory are just, like say, girl boob ass

I'm sure that there's probably an automatic way they could have handled it, but chances are that it could have caused even worse issues for old tags that would have rubbed even more people the wrong way

The way the message was worded implied to me that there was something wrong with the rambling itself.

I just got kinda thrown off by it, since it was kinda threatening. Saying repeat offenses may lead into account suspension etc. Felt a bit extreme for something so stupidly tiny.

It automatically removed tags from the image and listed what the words were. It was like "I think she's from a gacha game or something I dunno I just work here"

I have a couple of submissions with ridiculous rambling tags as well. Didn't get notified of anything.

On the other hand, it also doesn't make much sense to go on a crusade to go after everyone and anyone who has joke tags in their submissions...If it's so intrinsically necessary to remove these joke tags, and they 'must' be removed, it would be much less work for everyone that they just run a SQL script and remove the unwanted tags themselves like Maxine_Red said.

I don't know, seems weird.
