Can we just stop being awful to other people?
I don't know where to begin with this...
I do my best to keep away from harshness as I have an extremely difficult life. When I go online, I seek relaxation and sanctuary. However I'm seeing a gross uptick in people who cheer when something bad happens to a person that they "just don't like".
They can NEVER know who this person was and then hear something bad happened to them and be told "Oh they did [moderately bad thing that's been blown out of proportion], so they deserved it." and they will accept it at face value.
One of my very closest friends got disturbed by this trend and asked why "it's okay" to hurt or even KILL someone you "just don't like." Maybe this person would talk and say stupid things. maybe they would do stupid things, but they didn't physically hurt anyone else.
Instead of any logic, he was dogpiled. He was told how it was a "good thing" that someone who never physically hurt anyone was hurt/murdered. He was told that the person who performed the assault was " a hero" instead of a murderer. They ignored how the assault of this person shines a spotlight on THEIR community as to where such a cold blooded killer could come from.
No logic was found anywhere, just pure hatred was spewed forth from the "supposedly peaceful" community towards him.
My close friend NUKED his gallery and profile as a result.
I came online to find a few shreds of messages and my friend GONE.
I don't know how to handle this other than as another loss in my life.
