That's good, and glad to see you using Linux ^^ what distro do you use?

I'm using Mint. I find it pretty nice that it has all of the necessary drivers already in it's data base. Seems pretty good for beginners, but I'm somewhat tech savvy so I've spent first week or 2 customizing it. It was probably the most frustrating part with having to constantly looking stuff up, but got everything in working order :3
It would suck if I've had to go through this again just few months after I moved to it from Windows though.

That's indeed a good choice for most people. My go to for switching others to Linux is Mint. Personally I use Gentoo since some of the specific software I use is not precompiled anywhere, with Gentoo being good for when you need to build software from source often
