I've seen and heard the words now from several dozens of people all over the fandom; FA, Discord groups, in VRChat, on Steam, forum posts, reddit, twitter and several other places, where some self-righteous little snot-laced bitch is essentially telling people older than them that they shouldn't be furries cause they're 'too old.'
These are people in the 30-55+ range. The exact ages of these people are peppered all over that ballpark age range. The people clamoring about their age invalidating them as furries, are anywhere from younger than 18, to 26 or so, at least for the ones who honestly responded when asked how old they were in return.
Listen, let's get something polished to a completely, crystal clear shine here....
I don't care how old you are.
I don't care what sex/gender you are.
I don't care where you're from.
I don't care what your skin color/nationality is.
I don't care what faith you belong to.
I don't care what your sexual preferences are.
I don't care who you vote for.
I don't care how much money you have.
I don't care who your parents are.
I don't care how many people know your name.
I don't care who you are.
If you feel you belong in the furry fandom? Then you belong here. Full stop. We'd love to have you. You have a home here if this is where you feel you belong. We will welcome you with open arms. This is all-inclusive. So long as you're not doing something to hurt yourself or others? We will support you. You have friends here, whose names you don't know yet. You have people here you don't know yet, but who'll stick by you till your own, or their own dying breath.
We're furries, out there we're a taboo to most, meant to be shunned and looked down upon. In here? We can be our truest selves, enjoy our freedom and let the true face behind the mask society demands we wear more often than not, come into the light.
Those who'd say differently? Who claim to gatekeep what it means to be a furry? Those who claim if you vote left or right, are tall or short, old or young, black or white, gay or straight, rich or poor, famous or unknown? Whatever their chosen target of discredit is? Those do not belong here. People who include being a furry in their truest sense of self, and who join the fandom for a place to belong...They DO belong here, and anyone who thinks to mock them for any reason, and tell them they don't get to be who they want to be cause their biological clock has run out? Like they hit some stupid fucking idiotic version of Furry Menopause those idiots just cooked up, to feel better about themselves like they get to be in an exclusive little special snowflake club cause their own Furry Menopause just hasn't happened, YET?

Then I saw more, and more, and more. It seems to be a thing going around in the 'younger furry' communities; if you're older than 25? They think you should leave the fandom cause its 'weird'. :\ Lol

It seems to me that the only thing those individuals are interested in… Is to hide their own fragility. What better way is there then to pretend it is strength instead?
I will never leave. I will never forget the day I found this community either, nor the places it has taken me or what it has given me. It's impossible to imagine my life without it, and considering it was the thing that, when I reached my lowest point, made me want to live, I'm forever in its debt. And I always fervently defend it because of its role in what I came to be today.
I am fed up of these Puriteens thinking they can come into our community and tell us what to do or try to gatekeep like this, especially when they demonstrate very quickly that they know absolutely nothing about it or what makes it tick. Some of us have been here for longer than they have been alive, therefore they do not get to tell us how to be Furries! Then again, from what I have seen, these are very often the sorts of people who can only feel good about themselves by ostracising others and finding some way to cause divisions. If that's all they're interested in doing, why should we open our arms to them?
Who do they think runs the Furmeets and the big conventions? You can tell from their beliefs that they have never visited either of those things in their lives. And who do they think builds and runs the websites on which we congregate? Good on you for putting these sheltered idiots in their place. In times like these, our community is strongest together, and it's high time they learned that.
