One thing I've seen among Republican voters is the tendency to have a very small worldview. They hate "Those people" (however they define their 'outsider' group) in general, but will make exceptions for those they know personally, calling them 'one of the good ones."

As for who I am; I'm a veteran of the Global War on Terror, I know a thing or two about nationalism, jingoism, and patriotism. I joined at the age of 17 with a parental waiver, I was a young dumb nationalistic jingoistic shit-for-brains that would have thrust themselves at WBC members for disparaging the families of dead soldiers and punched a citizen for burning the flag. I learned, I changed, I understood better what free speech is and in doing so I became a better citizen.

Patriotism, at least from my experience, acknowledges that this county isn't perfect and there is much to be done to live up to the ideals the country was founded upon.

Nationalism doesn't have such qualms, the nation is the greatest, it will always be the best, and "they" are trying to make it bad; alternatively, and sometimes concurrently, the nation has moved away from it's core values and there must be a correction from the people who know better.

Be cautious, be skeptical; because when the people in the highest offices are telling you that satire and criticism aren't free speech, then they do not care about what patriotism is, because they aren't patriots.

Mine flys 24/7 on a 45* mount. I need to properly illuminate it separately from the rest of the household illumination. That is the one thing I haven’t done, but should.
