Age Verfication Going Into Effect In My State
a week ago
Sad news, friend: Arizona, the state I live in, has voted in age verification laws. (Boo hiss, I know.) They allegedly go into affect sometime this week.
I do not believe the government will have the resources to enforce this idiotic law across every website - at least, not at first. The plan is to keep posting until I phyiscally can't anymore.
Right now, the biggest risk is losing Bluesky, because they announced they plan to block access to people whose IP addresses originate from states with verification laws. They say they do not have the resources to enforce the law & avoid being fined per user. If you currently follow me on Bluesky, I highly recommend following me on Fetlife as an alternative just in case I lose access to Bluesky.
Though we could use VPNs to get around it, I am still begging you to start caring, before it's too late. The real risk isn't losing one singular artist, but in entire archives. The way these laws are worded puts the liability on site owners/operators, not on users. This means that homegrown sites with small, crowdfunded teams and archive sites owned by singular people are on the chopping block if they can't afford the software needed to not only collect your data, but securely encrypt & protect it from data breaches. We could easily lose sites like the M/m Spanking Archive and FurAffinity, should this start to be enforced.
Regardless of my fate, this gallery will hopefully still be here in the coming years. If I lose access, though, there will be no more new work. This may be sudden, and it will not be something I have control over. I am debating whether to use a VPN, as I am starting to second-guess whether it is actually helpful in the long term to continue on like nothing is wrong. Perhaps the silence, as painful as it will be, will serve to motivate others to fight for positive change.
In the meantime, PLEASE don't wait until a total blackout to give a shit. The rampant, fascist censorship sweeping not just the United States, but also Canada, the UK, and Australia seeks to harm us by tearing apart our communities and putting us back in the dark, when it wasn't possible to find, validate, and comfort one another. Many people still consider gay, queer, and transgender people to be obscene - mark my words, this will not stop at pornography. (Also, has anyone noticed it seems to be worst in regions that were violently colonized by white people?? What the fuck.)
WHAT YOU CAN DO
CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES! Every day, their aides build a spreadsheet tallying the number of people calling in about each issue - which they then use to vote. Politicians don't think for themselves, their careers rely on echoing the will of their people. IF YOU DO NOT CALL WITH YOUR OPINION, YOU LEAVE YOURSELF & YOUR COUNTRY AT THE MERCY OF THEIR OPINIONS.
This site makes it SUPER easy -- I've been calling every day I can stomach for months. Nothing bad has happened to me, and no one has come to arrest me. I promise, it is safe - anyone telling you otherwise benefits from you being too afraid to complain. Remember, as long as you are not obscene, inciting violence/harm, or threatening them (saying you won't vote for them again doesn't count....!) you are protected by the first amendment.
https://5calls.org - use KOSA as a script - sneak in a demand to also block age verification attempts in your region. (Don't forget to resist SCREEN & IODA as well.)
FOLLOW ME ELSEWHERE (Just In Case)
Though I don't anticipate an immediate blackout on my end, I highly recommend having as many backups as possible, especially if you primarily follow me on Bluesky.

PATREON & SUBSTAR - Thank you for all your support over the years. I will follow up on both sites with my emergency plans for these sites soon. As with here, service will continue as usual until I am physically blocked from doing so. (There should be a new piece dropping soon!)
COMMISSIONERS - If you want full resolution versions of your work, now is the time to make sure you have it downloaded. Please reach out if you need a download link to work you've commissioned.
A FINAL NOTE - Before I began posting to FurAffinity, I made this artwork purely for myself. An internet blackout won't stop me from continuing to make it, it will just slow down distribution. Should a blackout happen, I will look into publishing a zine with new work that you can pick up at spanking events. Unfortunately, due to the current regime in America, I lost my license to fly, and may not be able to get it back, as laws in my state prevent surgically unaltered transgender people from getting a birth certificate with their real name. I hope to fix this one day, but for now, I am restricted to parties I can drive to - namely, Hot Seat Retreat (both Palm Springs, and Vegas).
These are dark times, but even if I do go "off the air", I will not stop fighting for our rights - nor should you.
Please, join the fight, before we lose everything we've worked so hard as a community to build.

I agree that it is unlikely they will be able to realistically enforce these laws, but the proverbial pot is being heated up to see if we will accept the slow roasting of our communities without even pushing back. Not saying we should panic, but we SHOULD pay attention to the fact they're clearly testing boundaries to see what we will sit back & allow on grounds of "eh, couldn't happen here" before we realize they're attempting to slowly boil us - and push back, while the metaphorical stewpot is still at a temperature we can tolerate.
It's not just federal laws, there are state laws to consider. They are also targeting existing laws -- there is currently a bipartisan push to loosen protections given to site owners under section 230 of a "decency act" that prevents them from being held liable for what users post. They are reinvigorating the push for KOSA, SCREEN, and IODA, too.
Learn from my & my state's fail. Or don't. I'm not your dad. But whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, you are in danger, as are we all, of our own continued complacency. THIS is the time to realize the reality of the laws coming your way.
I choose to not look away, I can't afford to, as a trans guy who is also queer and a spanko.

What I do know is that 20 states are looking to sign similar laws (or have snuck them past us already, as mine did). Because we already have robust parental control devices & apps that provide protection to children of parents who care enough to use them -- it's my personal belief that the intent is to establish government survelliance. This is why it is a bipartisan push. Furthermore, I can see how this may be leveraged to track down and punish LGBTQA+ people specifically, as many conservatives still consider queerness & transness to be obscene. (Which is what IODA is for, it would re-define what it means to be "obscene" so loosely that LGBTQA+ information of ANY kind, including health & mental health resources, could be caught up in it.)
Everyone can keep telling themselves it's not a problem until it's THEIR problem - typical "I know the leopard was coming for faces, but I didn't think the leopard would come for MY face" arguement.
Stay strong man
The fact Jimmy Kimmel was put back on air after a measley few days PROVES we DO have the power to push back, by boycott and by angry letter/phone call, we're just choosing not to, and it's MADDENING!!!!
Like not to ramble, but I remember I felt like "dang we gotta buckle up, we are in for a bumpy ride" when youtube didn't change their logo to celebrate black history month or pride month this year, even though for the past few years they kept making a special moving icon for the occassion - and even OperaDX on their twitter PR account made a lame excuse not to do so for pride month this year, despite last year they extended it for a whole extra month on account of homophobes. (I know that's super subtle, but it felt like.. a really bad omen :/ :/ :/ )
As a side note, I saw someone on tumblr mention some national groups us artists can become members of that plan to push back and try to protect our industry from the censorship, and my brother
I thought should share this info with you as well, being a fellow artist - I don't know if it would help in your situation, but I wanted to pass that post on in case it might :3

If it helps, it's my belief this is America doing "shadow work" - we all have a psychological "shadow" made of the parts of us we don't like to admit are there. The longer you refuse to look at your shadow, the bigger it gets. America has let its/our shadow grow to an immense size pretending we're okay when we're very much not, and it needs to be addressed. Just remember; all this corruption has been here for decades already, this is nothing new if you are trans, non-white, AFAB, queer, etc. It's just gotten so bad that not even the everyday people who covertly benefit from systematic oppression can ignore it, anymore. It's finally coming for them, too, like we all said it would.
What we can't see, we can't fix. Now we can see it - so, we can finally fix it. It's going to be scary and difficult, like all shadow work, but like all shadow work, successfully addressing it will make life much better for *all*. (Even the white supremacists who can't admit their way has been harmful.) But, we all need to be willing to actually do the difficult work. It starts by admitting we have a problem to fix. I'm hopeful, because I see signs we're willing to not only admit it, but rally together to enact change.
This is actually a really beautiful way to look at that, and you are absolutely right, on the working up to this for decades- it makes it feel a lot more hopeful and something good to come out of something really bad 💖
All the best to you ^^
If you need any evidence as to how much power we have as a people, just look at how fast Jimmy Kimmel was put back on the air just by everyone cancelling Disney+ subscriptions, park passes, and merch orders. They lost 4 BILLION in revenue. We DO have power. All this nihilism & learned helplessness is why they've been able to push their regime. Don't HELP them, help YOURSELF!!
