We Need This

I finished reading the book 'Project: Hail Mary', a hard science fiction novel written by Andy Weir. Many of you might know him as the author who wrote 'The Martian', which was also made into a film starring Matt Damon and directed by Ridley Scott. I think, for the most part, the film captured 'The Martian' pretty well. Due to time constraints, I understood they had to condense some parts down, but the film more or less got the story.
'Project: Hail Mary' is going to be a film starring Ryan Gosling. Judging by the trailer alone, I have not been this hyped to a see a film, since... I can't even remember, but it has been far too long.
We need this.
In these troubling times, we are in dire need of original story, good, likeable character development, and, if it's not too much to ask, a film that will actually make you think, both philosophically and scientifically.
We need this. We need this movie to be nothing less than spectacular, because in the past decade there has been far too much dross and regurgitated material out there that has leveled our franchises, obliterated historical retellings and sucked out so much color and originality from our lives that there is but only barren, grey wasteland upon which to gaze. There is much for which to answer.
Lord, I beseech thee, let this film rocketh our socks off:

I'd also recommend reading/listening to the book. It is a good one.
I think I'll read Weir's 'Artemis' next...
Feel free to discuss. :)

YER GONNA CRY.
if you mean what every piece of fiction has always done and have commentery on actual societal issues, or references/allusions to history, that is not unneccasary.
If you mean a diverse cast, to give people representation. That is also neccasary. It doesn't affect story, it doesn't ruin immersion. It is natural.
