State of the Jag [Life, Commissions, Etc…]

Life:
I haven’t done a journal about myself in a long time, so lets get down to it, and see what’s been going on with jaguar life!
Back in the summer of 2024 I was laid off from my job, something I saw coming as another company bought our company. I had plans in place, but those fell through due to the passing of a friend. I ended up chilling out for the rest of the year on unemployment and severance while trying to find another job.
Eventually shifted to a healthcare job, with the help from a roommate as a character witness [aka reference]. Sadly, I didn’t last more than a few months before quitting cause I found a different job in the same field for more money. Even more sadly, due to that job being a call center job, post training, I found myself not enjoying the work. I made the decision to quit that job and find something else that would allow me to work 25-32 hours a week.
We live in such a weird world. I started working at 16, had a full-time job during the last year of high school and all through college. I still think getting a degree was the worst decision I’ve ever made. Still, over the past few years I’ve just been more depressed with life and wanting more time for myself rather than overexerting myself at jobs I don’t care about. We live in an age where folks should be making upwards of $20-25 an hour, but whatever, the world continues to turn, time keeps marching forward. Things don’t seem to get any better for common folks.
So, I'm going to try and live a little bit differently now for the next 6 months to a year. See how things go. Give myself more personal time.
Commissions:
I want to get back into doing commission work. This will help supplement income from my part time job. I like to write smut. I like to write vorny stuff that people like to read. Eventually, I'd like to write a book or something. That would be all kinds of neat.
I think I will continue with my going rate of .03 cents per word with an automatic 20% discount. Typically, I send invoices via PayPal. Might try and navigate toward just having folks donate via ko-fi post story completion? Unsure as of yet! Invoicing through PayPal hasn't ever failed me and I use very generic terminology when sending the invoice, so they'd never suspect me, mweheh! X3
Anyway, if you'd like a commission, feel free to ping me via a note and we can hash out an idea. Likewise, if you have me on messenger [telegram or discord], ping me there and we can get an idea going. I am open to writing about most things, but I would prefer to talk before accepting a commission and typically take payment once I've sent it to you and you've read over the content.

As for free time, I'm going to try and set up some streaming time as I like to play games and maybe Twitch would be a benefit and give me an outlet rather than just playing through a single player game in silence like I typically do.
Same goes for dumb youtube things. I have a couple dumb ideas for shorts, so maybe I'd be able to get those up and off the ground.
Looking toward 2026, see how all this goes.

In theory we could all be working very differently, yet for one or the other reason we ended up in this strange world *far* from the "market efficiency" I learn in my economics classes in university.
Though I'm unsure whether I should start a full-blown discussion about that 😅
Either way: you'll likely find a way through it all. Most important is never falling through that security net of employment, as it appears to be much harder to get back up there once you're out.
I can't speak out of personal experience though, still not working at the solid age of 20 thanks to the neat little thing called "education"...
If you can do that, you'll be ahead of most of the population. Because copying everyone else just to do the same has already broken many souls.
Thanks for the good luck wishes, I'll see how it continues. I actually enjoy the path I'm taking, yet life always knows a different path.
Just remember: life is for you, not everyone else. You need to make your own choices.
You don't need to force yourself to become someone else for everyone - not your boss, society or whatever.
I think this is where most people lose it. I might as well eventually...
