Silent Hill f and plans for the next few months
a day ago
Is my second favorite silent hill game right after 3. I adore the original 4 games to bits and pieces alonfg with the aspexts the films despite them being strange adaptations with big problems in pacing. It took me about nine hours to beat it the first time around (hardest puzzle and combat difficulty, was swimming in healing items none the less, lol) and I'll admit aspects of the games design were frustrating.
But you know what? Every silent hill game has had problems, mostly surrounding combat. This one is no different, and like all the games in the series (along with a surprising number of games in the past decade) there is FAR too much combat without enough enemy variety. This is especially a problem in horror with only dead space & 2 having enough of an enemy roster to remain interesting for its run time...and fatal frame being the mvp of unqienhorror gameplay design.
Still, for those of you who adore horror games then you know damn well you're not playing it for gameplay. Not really. You're here for story, atmosphere, visual design, and music. Silent hill f knocks it out of the park on every one of those fronts and i cannot gush about it enough. The only reason i think 3 is superior is down to personal prefence of themes and liking Heather more than Hinakio.
I don't think it's in my top 5 horror games, but it's in my top 10. Outside of combat bug bears my only other complaint is the level design. The game is terribly linear without a lot of exploration and there's only really two major dungeons (both are standouts for the series) with the rest of the adventure taking place down a hallway. This isn't the Ishimura, you know?
Still I can't gush enough about the experience of it and all the thoughts rushing through me. It's been some time since i played a AAA game that left me with big ideas and even bigger emotions.
Expect art related to it next year.
CURRENT TOP TEN FAVORITE HORROR GAMES IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
Signalis (MY WIFEEEEEEEE)
Silent Hill 3 (Heather remains the best protagonist in any horror game.)
Dead Space (need to get around to the remake)
Resident Evil 2 (on the n64, suffer with those controls)
P. T. (8 buy all Konami games using CD keys with discount codes and never for more than 45 dollars because fuck Konami. Please do the same! Or wair for a huge sale)
Dark Wood (the horrible things I'd do for a sequel or spirtual successor.)
Silent hill F (see above)
Resident evil 7 (eight is a far more fun experience but it's not scary. 4 is great. It's also not horror)
Amensia the Bunker (edges out alien isolation juuuust a little)
Condemned (i have no interest in ever replaying this and it will live in my memories as being far better than it most likely is)
Special mention to Parasite eve for being a hella fucking mood, and to Kouldeka for being fucking amazing... Even if both are way more of a jrpg than a horror game. And once the update is out I'll be giving fear and hunger termina a spin.
If you guys liked this lemme know, I can do more about other games I'm enjoying.
Buy it around 40 bucks or so if you're a horror fan. 20 if you're just curious.
NON HORROR GAME STUFF
Anyway expect me to start working on the hypnosis file soon. It's gonna take a while and require some sound testing, editing, script refinement, ect. Rough script is done (and has been for almost a decade, lol). Outside of that I've been thinking about some short stories if the energy hits right. There's a few more comms either waiting to be posted, or pending as well. But i won't be purchasing any new artwork until February or March of next year.
Feedback is appreciated and if you're out there dying to like, hand me small green presidents for a short story or to do a serious trade, dm me. I reserve the right to say no, but a little extra pocket cash would be awesome. Same for spirtual work.
