I'm not usually one to speak like this, but I asked for a sign a few days ago... of anything, it wasn't specific.
Today I decided to take the long way home in order to keep listening to a song for longer with my husband. Not even a minute after turning down the longer road, a coyote ran in front of our path in broad daylight during a moment I was feeling most myself and free and open-- I felt on top of the world.
It was far enough away that it wasn't in danger or a danger to myself and my husband in our Jeep, but also close enough I couldn't mistake it for anything except a coyote. I saw its long legs and gray-brown fur. I did not ask for a spirit totem, but I feel the world has just given me one.
Crossposting from X but honestly curious anyone else's thoughts and if they can relate / have had a similar experience, I'm curious to hear if so!

I believe in a spiritual connection to an animal. Years ago when I went with my father to visit my grandmother's (his mother) headstone at the cemetery I spotted a coyote idling about in the grass, nothing in particular catching its attention but when it spotted me its ears perked up and it sat down. I was in a big bout of depression at the time (it was only 2019, so there was still the Pandemic to come), but seeing that yote just minding its own business but stopping to look at me before walking back into the wild hills made me feel like there was something to think about. Lotta stuff has happened to me in the years since, but I adapt and keep going, just like how a coyote adapts to its environment and finds a way to survive.

Thank you for sharing. I know there's definitely layers and different ways a symbol can be interpreted. I feel the symbol is positive for me, a symbol that I'm headed in the right direction, like a momentary glimpse of my own soul reflected in nature. It's helped settle something in my chest more than ever before. I know to some it'll seem silly, but for me, I want to believe. :)
