Where would you look for friends in the UK as an introvert?

May sound a bit strange thing with me since 7 years living in this country, but oh well. Feeling quite stumped.
I am not entirely without friends fortunately, but they are far, meeting up once in about 2-3 months. Other than that, my life is grinding away at my job (fortunately a bit more settled now than the last 2 years), occasionally going volunteering, nice to have that, but can't much form connections there either.
Tried furmeets on occasions, but they are really introvert-unfriendly (and I probably have a hearing deficiency making me less able to understand speech in loud environments, which all of those I tried were). Checking Barq occasionally, but what I end up with from there is often weird, rarely going anywhere.
Sometimes I have the impression that this is just what the UK is, even from the random chats, sporadic connections I had. A reasonably organized country, generally good-aligned, polite, but a workplace 24/7, don't even much expect to find more than a career here. Wish to find aspects I could relate with, but little chance even at that without connections.

I've also always felt overwhelmed by public space furmeets; so many in the US take place at something loud and clustered like a sandwich shop or bowling alley. A large amount of people in a tiny space, in or around a building, is very extreme. It can be indeed very hard to find more niche events...
It's nearly impossible to avoid 'party hard' type of leans to events in the modern day, rather sad if the UK suffers that as much as the US does. I've stopped attending cons and furmeets over time ... what little quiet events existed, they gradually turn into the 'party hard' type of events. Perhaps the quiet folks inevitably filter themselves out and let the space get filled in by louder voices.
It's such an empty need in the fandom currently, that I hope some sort of solution develops over time.
