Karno's Rare-Because-He-Never-Has-Time Blather:
I just got the last print issues of two magazines I subscribe to, GUNS and American Handgunner magazine. Printing costs being what they are, the physical magazines just can't compete with the Internet anymore. Brent T. Wheat of GUNS says:
"There's also the ancillary problem of the hyper-specialization of society. People today want to see only what they're interested in, rather than a wide range of topics. I grew up in an era where a newspaper or magazine was a literal smorgasbord of loosely related notions, but this is a foreign concept to today's audience where algorithms have narrowed our focus into tight niches to the exclusion of anything else."
This, I believe, is a bad thing. Not only because it leads to a general narrowing of minds, but because the writers (or employers of those writers) of these algorithms can and do use them to isolate us into bubbles which are then frequently pumped full of bullshit. Do you think the orange clown currently in the White House could have gotten there if his MAGA cult had been subjected to frequent reality checks?
Of course not. So the "content providers" made sure the fragile little MAGAs didn't get any reality checks that might have shocked and upset them. Truth? Justice? Consensus reality? Who needs it? And NOW look at the mess we're in!
How do we get out of this mess? I confess I don't know. But I suspect that bullets are probably not the best way to go?

First off clear up that nonsense.
The solution though lies right in the laps of those who created the problem in that they've generated the niche selling points of just the article the consumer wants without surrounding it with alternate articles to attract their interests.
It's the advertising.
Chasing rapidly diminishing slices of pie as the number of people browsing the internet expands.
They literally made the microwave generation by promising it now without strings.
The solution is to abandon the internet.
the issue is not with publications the issue is our people are simple ..... journalism 101 write to third grade level ... im sure you remember that .
I mean what better people to manipulate.
he's a symptom of a problem, not the problem itself.
Example: On the left, people downplayed the Hunter Biden Laptop story, and the not exactly clean deals made using Biden's power. That, and al of other interesting things.
On the Right: The story of how J6 coincided with a coup attempt, where Pence was pressured to use 'alternate electors' to change the vote. That was an actual attempt at election fraud. I may also believe there was some manipulation, but that story was still obfuscated
Also, the 'they're eating the pets' story was unsubstantiated, and it was a major talking point during the election...which then turned out to just be refugees who couldn't drive and kept getting into car accidents...So, yeah, not the same as eating peoples pets...
There is a lot of misinformation on both sides....Ugh, i hate making the 'muh both sides' argument, especially after what happened to Charlie...but it's true, People are evil. Left right and the fursuit wearing liberterians too. There will always be people capable of great good and great evil, and they exist everywhere, on every side of the spectrum.
Always do your research x.x Can't trust a damn thing in this world.
People look at me like I have five heads when I tell them I still buy DVDs. Shame on me for wanting to own the things I buy, so they can't be updated, patched, "corrected", crippled, or take away from me.
And seriously, you keep harping on Orange Man bad, MAGA nazis as the bane of your problems, I highly doubt those two are in cahoots with your magazines going to pot. Again, blame the internet . The various magazine publishers are losing readership thanks to the internet. I'm no fan of the ego in charge, but you need to quit assigning him as your personal boogieman. There's far worse people in power than 47. The house and senate are filled with them on both sides.
Best of both worlds.
Like being able to just pop open KotOR or MechWarrior using a CD, can't do that if everything is piloted by Steam and ther'es no offline mode for the game. Or if the server is cut because the company shuts down.
We need to bring back physical copies for a lot of things~
One of the best ways to do that is to convince your victim that the truth tellers (including fellow victims) are the enemy and liars and bad people who should never ever EVER be listened to, ever. You can see that with religious cults that actively warn their members against apostates. You can see it with false accusers who "poison the well" against the innocent party.
And... you see it with political groups who tell their base, "the working class citizens on the other side of the aisle aren't just wrong, they're EVIL! Pure unadulterated EVIL! They're fascists and sexual deviants and they want to DESTROY the country and our way of life! Remember, anything they say is both lies AND the hateful ravings of evil monsters who should be rejected at all costs!" (sadly, that's not hyperbole. Karno has a few examples of that, on each side of the aisle, regularly posting... and automatically dismissing and/or blocking anyone who points out that they're wrong about things)
That's just the way it goes.
For better and worse, society moves on.
You seriously need to find another whipping boy. Blaming everything on the current administration is disingenuous (9 months? Really?). Your lachrymose lamentations are becoming tedious.
This paragraph is wholly projection.
“ So the "content providers" made sure the fragile little MAGAs didn't get any reality checks that might have shocked and upset them. Truth? Justice? Consensus reality? Who needs it?”
Truth? Like Biden wandering off into the rainforest, staring off into space motionless while everyone around him is clapping to the music? He was a vegetable,… that was clear to us….
However, your content creators called them “cheap fakes” so you wouldn’t get any shock to your system about the fact that he wasn’t actually in charge of the country. Nope, you were drip fed that he was sharp as a tack! And that allowed for the mental gymnastics that anointing Harris as the candidate without her actually being elected is somehow saving democracy.
Justice?
You mean a prostitute violating a signed and payed for NDA so that corrupt prosecutors could turn minor offenses into felonies in a vain attempt at political lawfare?
A prostitute broke the rules, and Orange man bad gets charged with felonies for signing a checks with a bad memo lines….
That was fed to you as justice,… and now, with evidence that the very same prosecutor who said “No one is above the law” is herself being charged with mortgage fraud,…. Somehow this is a miscarriage of justice? 🙄
For the last ten years the DOJ has been fully weaponized against Trump and the Republican Party, yet because your content creators say that it’s entirely a NEW thing in just the last 9 months, you say we are blinded. 🤔
Consensus Reality?
You kinda did the Trump weave here! 🤣
“ Consensus reality refers to the shared set of perceptions and beliefs that a group or society generally accepts as real or true, even if it's not objectively true”
Which leads back to your original point of digital media pigeon holing people into their own little bubbles in which they develop their own reality, like Biden being cognizant, or Harris being democratically elected, AOC is intelligent, and Bernie Sanders is a moderate……
Sanders certainly isn't a "Radical left Marxist" the way that Drumpf and you consider him.
The rest of what you said here was just a word salad of BS not even worthy of getting into in detail.
✌️
I know damn well you read everything I write. You've proven that over and over.
Neither is Trump!
That distinction is reserved for my kids, followed by my dog.
Explain yourself, or don’t, I couldn’t care less.
It's just you, your kids, your dog, and your precious guns against the world...
Or did you forget how this last election played out?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_.....ntial_election
It's not my fault that there are so many gun owners in the US. That's just insanity.
And the outcome of the last election has fuck all to do with anything you've said.
And yeah, soooo many LEGALLY OWNED GUNS!!!
I bathe in the glory of the second amendment and the astonishing number of LEGALLY OWNED GUNS in the hands of PRIVATE CITIZENS!
Yeah, the last election has dick all to do with anything I said….
It was a reference to what YOU said….
“ It's just you, your kids, your dog, and your precious guns against the world”
Except, it’s NOT just me and my dog against the world,…. There’s a majority of Americans who feel the same as I do.
So in spite of your vain attempt to make me feel isolated, I do not.
I’ve enjoyed drunk sparring with you, but it’s past time to put your rhetoric to bed.
Come back with sources and proof of your claims or don’t bother replying to me.
There's nothing "Glorious" about the Second Amendment.
Trump didn't win by a majority of the voters in the US, and does not have a mandate. he won by a small plurality of those who voted.
His election still has fuck all to do with any of that.
The sad fact is that your views represent a minority of people in the US. Maybe a third of them at best, and likely not even that many, considering just how loony some of them are.
I already told you to do your own homework.
And it says you are exactly the person Karnos original post was referring to;
Stuck in your little pigeon hole, making up your own reality, and unwilling to look outside of it out of fear that you may, perhaps, be objectively wrong.
I’m done with this thread, enjoy replying to yourself from here out.
Oh yeah, It's because you're always full of shit.
I'm kidding of course, Karno being one such person who is also level headed.
But yeah, makes me quite happy to see people who read both sides of the news stories. You're definitely not alone, the polls show that, while the progressive party gets thinner and thinner every week. Hope your kids are doing well, God bless ya.
