Trying to find good places to learn can be a bit exhausting when sifting through mountains of craft channel slop.
There are a litany of tips I could definitely give like, not to overthink it, what programs to use, color choices etc.
But ultimately, it just depends on what you want to create, and directly referencing that. What inspires you most?
For me, and although it sounds a bit shallow, I've always been inspired by some of my favorite fetish artists. I could go deeper into why, but it would digress from this topic.
Over time I basically just take notes or straight up reference figures/shapes/scenarios I like. Saving images that I think are particularly visually compelling or unique, watching artists who's style I really love seeing.
If there was a specific aspect of art I wanted to grasp like, shading, highlights, coloring hair, I would literally look up on Pinterest or Youtube on how to do that specific thing. Hell, I think even a few weeks ago I looked up 'how to do hair highlights' despite having done it before. Just absorb as much as you can. I'm not the type of person to specifically ask people how they do things in their art, but hell, I see nothing wrong with that as well.
A thing I also tell a lot of people is that I try to find ways to keep myself drawing, as well. Between 2020-2022ish, I scheduled a drawpile (shared canvas) session with a friend of mine every weekend and we just kind of fooled around on a canvas. Not every day was a good one, but it sure as hell kept me drawing and got me used to feeling comfortable with the process. That's super important too, and I think involving someone else, as awkward as it can probably be at first, kind of forces you into it a bit as long as you're determined.
Sorry for the wall of text, but I hope any of that helped ^^
I'll try to reference this for motivation and to keep myself on-track when I'm learning.
I'm hoping that after a few years of research and practice, plus a boatload of persistence and grit, that I'll be able to free ideas from my head and turn them into something real.
Also, I don't mind the wall of text, it shows that you care ♡
What is your favorite color? Also, who are your biggest inspirations in terms of art? Not just in fetish, but anybody that made you want to start drawing in the first place, and anybody you look up to, before and now!!
And I honestly like most colors of the rainbow but am partial to orange or purple. :3
As for inspirations, I have a wide, wide berth when it comes to that.
In terms of who got me started in terms of actually wanting to *draw*, I would say watching Eddsworld as a kid certainly contributed haha
in terms of big/furry stuff, some of my inspirations or just generally favored artists are Xero (purringpastry), BootFromTV, BeePunz, and probably many more that arent quite coming to mind!
I definitely lean more towards purple, and cool colors!! But all of the colors of the rainbow can be made pretty~
And i see, i see!! It's always fun to hear about inspirations imo, because for example, now that you mentioned them, I can kind of see in a loose way how they shape up what you create today, and it feels magical in some way!! Hoping that doesn't sound weird, pff... And Obviously there are many things that make you unique compared to the people you look up to, before and now!! Inspirations, and how things are adapted and remixed with personal tastes is a huge reason why I think art of many different types is so cool!!!! 💙
