Resident Evil 7 is markedly intense, but thoroughly well done! I'd recommend it as a great psychological horror :)

Should i skip them or are they worth playing

5 is decent, but not as good as 4. 6 is where the company tried to experiment with the game's formula - so rather than a single game, it's more like four small games, with wildly different play styles, all stuck together into one game, like 'chapters'. Unfortunately, some of those segments are a lot less fun than others. I think you can safely skip it!

I would continue onto 5 from 4, it's a downgrade but still pretty good (great if co-op'd)
Revelations 1 and 2 are alright, but pretty skippable
6 is considered not very good
7 and 8 ARE very good

Guess i'll go then with 5, 7 and 8 and afterwards check for Revelations.

I would still play them all tbh but 5, 6, 7, 8, revelations 1 and 2 atleast imo.

6 is the weakest of the bunch because its not survival horror in the slightest bit, its a pure action game. but it is a solid action game, so whenever you see it getting a bad rep, its because it went way too far in the action department.

for the spinoffs i didn't list like umbrella chronicles, darkside chronicles, umbrealla corps, and operation raccoon city, they can be skipped honestly. umbrella chronicles and darkside chronicles has a lot of extra story to explain things that happened but you have to emulate them and darkside chronicles camera is terrible since its like your characters neck is made of jelly and just flops around constantly. If you don't mind emulating and the camera in darkside chronicles doesn't give you a headache, definitely play both. Umbrealla corps is a massive skip, and operation raccoon city is another full on action game but its completely non-canon. still fun imo for a playthrough, especially in coop, but an easy skip otherwise
