(lets clear off that months old journal...with another anthrocon one ;p )
ok so 1st world problems I admit to start here..But ok rant time. so Ive gone to anthrocon a long time. first time was 2000 .I didnt go during covid years obviously when there wasnt one .and unfortunately for financial reasons I didnt attend 2024 and 2025. I went on the website to buy a supersponsorship at 9:05 am? give or take a minute my time (12:05 e.s.t.) when registaration opened here today . I spend 2 or so mintues filling out the reg after several minutes of wait since the website cant handle the traffic and when I go to check out supersponsors are sold out. WHAT FUCKING BULLSHIT! anthrocon has literally gotten too big .they even have a level higher then supersponsor they started after covid ultrasponsor limited to 75 people (and like $1200 ) and I expected that to be sold out immediately but supersponsor I think was suppossed to be 400 people ($350 cost ) ? or something.the reason why it sells out is the give ultra and super first dibs at reserving a hotel room and theres not enough hotel rooms in downtown Pittsburgh. It makes me to never want to go to Anthrocon again with this bullshit along with them saying even regular attendence might sell out before the con if attendence trends continue.I settled for a simple sponsorship which is $140 . what cra!!!
I may have to consider giving up on anthrocon which sucks because thats my home town originally (Pittsburgh) I dont care about the hotel perk since I always go to the Omni not the main hotel. Fuck! I know first world problems but a fandom convention is supposed to be fun not some high stakes stressful gambling shit. All I wanted was to attend the dealers/supersponsor art show reception and attend the sunday brunch.Hell if they allowed you to purchase those seperately I probably would and now it seems to do that you have to be on the website ready to buy within a minute of them opening in Ocotber of the previous year. It makes me sad. I know things change and sometimes get more popular. But when things sell out in a few minutes many months before it even happens ,it just makes me not want to go.Youd think there could be a more fair way to do this ;p

Anthrocon's just gotten too big. I'm in the same boat regarding FWA, I'm not going next year because it's just gotten way too crowded relative to the space. Honestly, if it's bothering you that much, and I'm being sincere, don't go to Anthrocon. See what smaller conventions are within your travel radius, ones that would love to have more attendees, instead of the largest conventions which are facing attendance caps and oversizing problems.
