Speaking as another asexual, it's the sort of thing where, if something is too real, it feels like a real thing/person, and that shuts down enjoyment. If it remains fantasy, unrealistic, then it's not real, and it is enjoyed on a different level.

It makes sense honestly, it's enough of a divorce from reality to find enjoyment.

It's nuanced for me, lots of little factors. I like the aesthetic of carrying around a huge bulge, I like the idea of a guy just kinda living with that kind of heft between the legs, dating becomes an entirely different game when you literally can't avoid the elephant in the room (or in your pants). Just lots of things!
