Hiya,
Just letting everyone know that, though I'm not sure how (though I think it's related to the massive data leak discord had recently) but I got hacked.
I have deleted every message the hacker sent out. If i missed any, do let me know. I'll delete them right away.
I wanted to let everyone know that I got it sorted and done. It happened when I was asleep, and I spent all morning since waking up sorting out what I could
and rejoining servers I got booted off (sorry guys :C)
But everything is fine. I did have 2FA already turned on, but I added extra security so that this doesn't happen again.
Just out of curiosity, which authentication app do you guys use? I use Google, but I heard there is another one, Authy? What do you think of this?

FA+

From what I gather, a lot of people got their data hacked. Particularly over here in the UK where we now have those age verification laws, with many people much worse off than me. That whole verification system left a lot of sites and apps very vulnerable. I didn't use my own face, I used a picture of someone else back when that was the only thing they asked before all the added "look left, look right, open mouth" nonsense was added.
I was able to recover it quickly because I don't use the same passwords for any financial sites, or use passwords that are similar across multiople important sites, especially if they have my financial information. My email passwords are different from each other, and from other socials, and messengers.
I even had 2FA turned on for discord. Is it a faff? Yes. But I always thought it'd keep me safe. Somehow they were able to brute force past this. So I added extra security. But I also imagine because I don't use the same password for discord or my email, they weren't able to get much more than just my discord.
But I now understand why Discord has a class action suit against them because the fact that they managed to brute force past my 2FA means the site/app is very vulnerable. And this alone makes me mad.
And they did it when i was asleep. Very rude.
But either way I added more pins, and verification. That alone has me mad because I've been so busy I haven't even had the chance to even talk to anyone let alone click a link lmao. But that said, have you heard about the massive data breach?
The one that has Discord seeing a class action lawsuit?
There are people worse off than me because from what I gather hackers are now ransoming this information.
I heard about the data breach and was waiting for when it was going to happen. It's one of the reasons why I never "verify" my age anywhere on the internet. We can all blame the UK online safety act for this complete catastrophe. All our sensitive information is being stored across the internet in multiple server locations. Lesser sites based abroad that can't afford to implement age verification measures will have to block UK users. Sites that can afford to implement measures may have sub standard protocols, meaning, you guessed it... data leaks. And the probability of data leaks only going to increase.
Yeah, fantastic. The information we were once told to keep private is now being thrown around like confetti under the pretence of "safety". Now it can be used to blackmail and commit fraud. Someone please make this make sense.
I'm really, really getting sick of having to deal with e-mail verification codes and phone calls all the time.
