How much money are you making every month/year?
Whenever I tell people I make slightly above $52000 (Singapore Dollars) a year (excluding commission work) I get three reactions:
A: Wow, you're rich.
B: That's decent.
C: You're underpaid.
For context, $52k SGD is ~$40,000 USD, ~34.600 € EUR, ~£30,410 GBP, ~RM 168,000 MYR, ~1.05 billion Vietnamese dong.
And I think the fascinating thing is where that person comes from. Are they from the EU earning Euros? Or they from Brazil earning reais?
Hypothetically, an artist from Russia who manages to make $500 USD in a month (which is almost ₽40,000 Roubles) has just earned more money than a factory worker from the same country.
But there's also living expenses, taxation, and how much a country provides benefits and subsidies.
So, how much are making in YOUR local currency?

P.S. The salary information above will be outdated starting 2026.

So A: Wow, you're rich.
Will be a very common response
Only people that typically see that kind of money, are buesness owners, people in the Medical field, successful youtubers/entertainers/enthrapeners (autocorrect didnt want to work)
And scammers/thieves.
Only other way to have that kind of money, is have a job, and never spend any of it...which is impossible, unless you are literally being taken care of on somebody elses dime.
And the money just sits, and never gets touched.
I work an on-call job.
Im 10k-17k depending on the year
To be fair, the amount I make also comes with some stress. I'm a school teacher, so I guess I'm getting paid to shut students up from making 6-7 jokes all day, and "politely" telling parents that their kids were misbehaving in class. But yeah, otherwise, I'm pretty frugal with my money, I always set aside a budget for furry commissions every month. Also helps I'm living the single life without any relationship commitments and all that jazz.
The order is made to people in the office, they call a team of people to show up at X location.
We work from Start, to Finish. However long the Job takes, that depends on the size of the Order, and if there are no ""obstacles"".
Im living single to...but my paycheck fluctuate as much as my yearly income.
So, like this year....I can go 4 months with little to no work.
I living in low income housing...but this year MAY be my last, depending....lifes tough lol
C. C. C. C. C. C.
Hideously underpaid for your occupation.
Teachers should be making a MINIMUM of $250,000 USD a year, in my opinion!
A: Wow, you're rich.
Or would adopting the EUR be an option in the future? I'm not so familiar with the situation there
Situation 1: Instead of HUF getting stronger, it's buying strength got halved, blaming the Rus-Uk War. I have heard that in Ukraine the price of bread got doubled (52%)...Here in Hungary it got an unreasonable 1,82 multiplayer. The ruling party essentially doubled the price of essentials, or halved HUF's buying strength. Gotta mention that the same month the politicians gave themselves a 200% pay raise...for whatever the fuck reason. HUF getting stronger???? HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA...well yeah, for the politicians. The rest are just kept at a barely not fliping out state. We be sheep.
Situation 2: EUR won't be an option in the near future, as that would bring better payment for us and easier to detect tax frauds that the corrupt people at high places do. Check where Hungary stays at the European Corruption Chart! 40-41 points, where 100 is not corrupt and 0 is very corrupt. We are at the 8th. spot...from below. Yeah, switching to EUR would make the numbers easier to see for other countries and would shine light where the money is disappearing. Whoever makes EUR a thing here would be both a Hero to the people and a Villain to the corrupt. EUR in Hungary will not happen for another 10 years or longer...A revolution would do this country good...new ruling system and new politicians-wise.
40 000$ yearly is nice, but I wouldn't say You're rich. Also, don't know how living costs are in Singapore
I believe you've made a typo lol
I was making 8.8k a year, and that's technically above average here.
It seems like the median income in Singapore is around 60K Singapore Dollars? So I'd say you're B, pretty average income wise.
If you'd take that money 1:1 to Germany, you'd be C, below average, since the median here is 45k€.
most of the people ( 50% ) earn under 2.500e per month
i'm a temporary worker so depending on the factory, currently it's 19k-23k per year.
IDR 5.700.000 /month --- (340USD /month)
IDR 66.000.000 /year --- (3700USD /year)
Just average mid-class individual income here for living costs, someone will say "wow you're rich" if gonna be 700-1000USD /month for same mid-class person too.
40k/yearly USD is a wild dream for me ^^;;;
