A first for everything... (scammer impersonating an artist)
Well, after years of getting commissions I had someone actually impersonate an artist I won a YCH from. The artist I've commissioned before, and we've only ever conversed through FA Notes... and I've only ever paid them using a specific payment service...
For the first time the "artist" friended me on Discord, using the real artist's name/profile picture etc. They tried to get me to pay them through Paypal (which the actual artist has never used before), urging me to only use "Friends and Family" (so I can't dispute the charge). Like... c'mon... the real artist I won the YCH from had already noted me on FA with the proper payment details, like they always do, so I immediately knew the person on Discord was an impersonator.
I reported the person on Discord for impersonating a business/scamming people, and I got their Paypal email so I could report them on Paypal as well... so that's all I can do. Sadly I have no clue what FA account they're using to keep tabs on YCHes and such. 🙄

paypal is such a bad service though they don't tend to do anything about these fakes when I've encountered them either
let's hope paypal does something for once xD
Am also glad to know your vigilant enough not to be tricked so easily.
And I hope your story will help others in the future for the red flags of the impersonators.
